"From the book?"

Where did that come from?

The people who say they had that comment:

How did the full clue read, word for word, including "from the book"?

(from the book)
"marked made in Centaurus"

is how it reads.

Could this be something else? For instance

marked: "made in centaurus"

What would be marked like that? I was looking at that British aircraft engine but I can't think of anything that would necessarily fit that forming of the question either.

I must be crazy then ... either that or they changed it back.

2 different computers with 2 browsers each and none of them have the "(from the book)" part after clearing cookies.

Maybe that was only meant for a few eyes to see ...

I definitely saw it, but I went back thru and it's not there now. Another puzzle inside the puzzles .... a riddle, wrapped in an enigma... hmmmmm...

I'm caught up now... had to clear cookies...

WOW!!!!!!
there is 2 high schools named "Centaurus High School" the first one in the United States of America > Colorado > Lafayette
and the second in Namibia (first time i hear about )

Our researches are going everywhere ..........

I can also confirm that the statement (from the book) appeared earlier and now after clearing the cookies and reentering the answers is gone...
Maybe the designers initially entered it in order to give us a clue and then changed their minds because they thought that it was misleading?

Well, I haven't seen the "from the book" message...

Just in case it helps, I find Google's Book Search sometimes useful for searching for certain words in a _selection_ of books:
books.google.com...

No "made in Centaurus" though...

Agreed. I'm not getting (from the book) included on the next question now.

But 10 minutes later it's back again!!

And therefore going nowhere...

One of the things I'm finding _really_ frustrating about this game is that you don't know if one of your guesses is along the right lines (possibly just missing a letter or something) or whether you're barking up the wrong tree altogether.

Anyone have an online version of 'Above Top Secret'?

Could search it quickly for keywords such as 'Centaurus'

That would make sense if "from the book" means "from 'Above Top Secret'".

I'm still thinking it has something to do with "made in Centaurus" ... an object that was marked with a stamp saying that perhaps? I don't have a copy yet.

I don't know if it is online. I've looked at the index in my hard copy for "Centaurus", but it isn't in there.

I have a vague recollection of an early (1947-1948) hoax in which the hoaxers wrote "made in [or on] XXXXX" on a model flying saucer. I don't recall the XXXXX part...

Check my sig ... on the 4th question (or looking for the 4th answer I should say ... the first one wasn't really a "question" per se).
