Nice Irma!!

I was working on astronauts. I briefly touched on Spitfires and the RAF but obviously gave up too soon thinking it would be more along the lines of the Queen's Space Fliers. Again...WELL DONE!

Cheers.

I don't know why I know, but I remembered the RAF's motto had something to do with stars. Probably because it sounds a bit funny I guess.

Anyway, marked made in Centaurus.

The only thing I can think of after that rush of blood to the head just now is the constellation, and either what's in it (star names) or what comes from it (meteor showers).

Chiron is the centaur, the constellation Centaurus. He appears on the symbol of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps....

en.wikipedia.org...

I might be totally off track, though...

See, the phrase "marked made" is throwing me off because A) I'm either sleepy or B) this seems gramatically incorrect for a normal sentence.

So it's a translation or a quote or something along those lines. Unless I'm just brain farting.

Hi! Just registered.

Could have something to do with Australia/New Zealand as the 'Southern Cross' is found
within Centaurus. It was a marker for seamen.

That's my first contribution, look forward to making many more!

Yeah could have something to do with the Southern Cross etc

Cutwolf......
I see the clue and answer as something along these lines.....

A Ferrari, for example, would be marked made in Italy.

hey nexy guy in line wuz upppp

Alpha Crucis is usually called Acrux - this being a clever combination of its Greek letter and constellation name. The modern usage of the name was likely first coined by the American astronomical popularist Eliijah H. Burritt somwhere between 1833 and 1856, where the name appears next to this star in his own star atlas that sold over 250 000 copies. Acrux to the eye has a distinct cold steel blue tint but is paler than Virgo’s 1st magnitude star Spica - some 53o further north of its position. As mentioned before, Alpha Crucis was part of Centaurus which marked the place of the right rear hoof of legs of the Centaur. Prior to cartographer Bayer, the star assigned the Greek letter ζ. Oddly, ζ Centauri is now recognised as the shoulder of the Centaur!

^^^^^
"Alpha Crucis was part of Centaurus which marked the place of the right rear hoof of legs of the Centaur"

here we can see many markings of the centarus

what is it that we can find out of it?

marked, is to define what centarus does guys, centarus has marked something or something inside centarus is marked something significant, not actually it is being a mark.

I was thinking more along the lines of a famous UFO case or something where someone reported seeing debris and later coming to find out it was from Centaurus; or finding a piece of debris literally marked "Made in Centaurus", although I doubt its that literal.

I have the same line of thinking as you Cutwolf. Have tried NGC5128 (galaxy that provides the radio source for centaurus A), and also had a look to see if there is a comet or something similar. No luck thus far.

It could mean:

marked "made in Centaurus" (meaning an object marked with "made in Centaurus")
