or I could throw a little bit of a curve in your thinking.

war of the worlds was broadcast from the Mercury Theater.

Mercury, the smallest planet, messenger to the gods.

ahhhh Good call!!! MERCURY factors into this somehow. It fits so perfectly and that is something I havent been able to do since we got this clue.

Problem though is that WotW was in 38 right? Bit early for the beginning Cold War clue.

Time for 20 questions....

1. Does Little refer to "Robert Wentworth Little"

2. Is the answer a name, a group, a phrase?

Back at least for now but about to go home. I think the "Little Deliverer" is what we need to input. But what is that indeed? Who is the guy you mentioned?

Did you see my reasoning on Mercury?

he said

HUNT_ADMIN: the clues are not "googleable"

HUNT_ADMIN: but the answer is.

he aslo said we arent even close to the answer

Soviet and no Soviet in the same clue. that confuses me but at least it looks like the answer is Little 'something' as was mentioned a short while ago.

If we aren't even close then I'm going to start on Cuba, during cold war, Soviets had some involvement, and my brain is getting Little

You sure that HUNT said Soviets and no Soviets in same clue? Wouldn't that be mutually exclusive?

180+ pages of threads in the UFO and ALIEN forum. How many people do we have here? Let's split up and find this. Please... Otherwise I might go insane, or that might just be the mercury talking. Or the brainslug. Yes... you will help the brain slugs win the domain... Wait what?

I think I know where the answer lies....

clues, one more time

cold war era, Soviets, no Soviets, No Project, Little _____

This would have to refer to Sputnik 2 and the launch of Laika, the first living creature (dog) into space. Laika means "barker" but she renamed from Kudryavka (Russian for "Little Curly"), and she was also nicknamed Zhuchka ("Little Bug") and Limonchik ("Little Lemon").

This was a Soviet mission but yet carried no Soviets, wasn't part of a "Project" and was during the cold war era. But yet again, I've tried several versions and nothing.

Didn't I suggest Laika like...5 pages ago? Has anyone followed up on that? I've been playing Madden.

No....5 pages ago you said this in my reposnse to thinking that the answer could be related to Doolittle...

If it turns out to be something to do with Doolittle I'm going to shoot myself. He was the first route I researched for this question.

give me a break and go play Madden.

You're too easy, Free.

In related news, man gets Sumo beanbag chair stuck up his behind. "It really hurts. It makes me really grumpy and bitter," she said, "but thank God I have 2 of them! Now I'll be able to sit on a chair twice as high and will feel even mightier!"
