WHAT! Haven't heard of it!

Here's my explanation of the soca genre:

Soca is a genre of music derived from Calypso, both of which developed in the twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago.

This is also the country that created the steel pan, the only instrument developed in the 20th century.

Sweet TnT...

BTW, my family is repatriating to Trinidad in 9 months. WOOT!

Chutney Music.... this genre I would describe as Indian(bollywood)mixed with calypso/soca. Kind of like bhangra with a caribbean flavor. The songs themselves tend to be funny... I like to think of it drunk people dancing music...we're all over the floor when we get started with the chutney music especially at weddings...

hope you guys like

Hey Check this one out. A song for Suriname by Surinamese Stars. At the end you can hear Bigi Pokoe, which is typical Surinamese music. I could swear I saw my cousin in between there.

Duku voor Suriname - Long Watra

we need a Rupee song... got to represent the Bajans too.

You know bandit, you're gonna get me in trouble, since this thread starting, I've been blasting music and dancing around, itching to go to a party. If it comes up, I'm blaming you for getting me out of my funky mood and into the insane crazy party girl mood.
