Tsunami Kamchatka, Russia

The earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Ricther Scale near Kamchatka shores has caused a 7-feet tsunami.
The wave hit the coastline near the villages of Krutoberegovo and Ust-Kamchatsk.
No people were injured, and no houses were damaged, "Ekho Moskvy" reports.
More than two thousand people were evacuated urgently from the shore.
The wave hit the coastline and spread 50 ft further onto the land, which resulted in destruction of several non-residential buildings.
After the water lowered, people were able to return to their homes.
It is worth reminding that the most powerful earthquake had occurred at Kamchatka on April, 21, 2006, when it measured 7.7 on the Richter scale. Fortunately, there were no victims. However, several villages of Koryak Autonomous Area were destroyed.

How many tsunami will we have in 2006?

I have been surfing the net and it seems that, usually, there are no more than 2 tsunamis a year and that a powerful tsunami will generally hit a coast on Earth every 10 years...

What a great find!

So, how many did we have last year and how many so far this year???

I find it interesting that residents were able to be evacuated ahead of time. What early warning systems to they have over there?

I mean, Indonesia installed some after the Boxing Day tsunamis but they still got hammered a few weeks back.
