Evidence the US is Encouraging Israel to Attack Syria?

Joshua Micah writes this interesting blog making the case: But there are persistent signs that the US is egging Israel on to bring the war to Damascus. Here's a clip from the end of an article today in the Jerusalem Post ... Israeli Defense officials told the Post last week that they were receiving indications from the United States that the US would be interested in seeing Israel attack Syria. Link. I've said it before and I'll say it again I think we're in a proxy war right now, although not necessarily one of our choice. I think it's out of our hands now whether this ends up quieting down and goes away or escalalates to a World War type situation.

It is most likely a proxy war on both sides. Given that some people believe a long term scenario involves major conflict on the Middle Eastern/Eurasian plains, and that the US may have 'made the first move' when they entered Iraq, I am beginning to wonder if this is another preliminary step towards that perceived outcome.
