Why do meteorites make no sound as they enter the atmosphere? If they're going fast enough to burn up, shouldn't there be a sonic boom or some type of noise? Is it just too far away to hear?

:edit: Oops, this sould go in BTS shouldn't it?

Its called a Meteor when it goes through the atmosphere.

a meteoroid when it is in space
a meteorite when it hits Earth

They burn up at such a hit altitude that we usually don't hear anything. But some have come close and we can hear the very good...
