question for the ATS admin and staff......

I know the chat is now blocked to anyone under 200 posts due to innapropiate chatting, but it doesn't really feel fair to the ones that didn't do anything. Its like all are being punished for what a few people did.

Is it possible that we, newer members, get another chance?

200 posts isn't that big of a price, and the chat feature is worth it. You'll appreciate it much more when you get there as well because it's virtually troll free. Few trolls are around to make it to their 200th post.

Naturally this is a call of the owners and the admin, but I agree with them 100%. I visit chat everyday and it's always a pleasant experiance.

You see, it's people like you that these preventative measures are in place for. You are unwilling to go the full length to use this feature, while everyone else including myself is, and you just cannot see past your own little bubble of greatness. ATS is a great place, and the admin trys to keep it that way as best they can. I've heard the term 'overmoderated' used a few times. Not the case at all. The mods here are all nice guys and gurls, prepared to go out of their way to help other members and make them feel welcome. The fact that you let some try-hard review probably written by a banned member anyway just goes to show that you are not open minded enough to even be on this site in the first place.

Well, just imagine all the sudden new members named "ViagraRuLeZ" and "BuyThisProduct" that would be showing up in chat to annoy the you-know-what out of our members. Personally, I wouldn't find that exciting.

So, if you can contribute a small bit to ATS, it contribues back to you.

Damn, a little hard there WTR, don't you think? I’m sure VM is a fine member who just feels that collective punishment isn't fair since he hasn't done anything wrong, frankly that's understandable. Patience is a virtue that not all have, but that shouldn't be something to get angry over, especially at a new member, I’m sure they’ll come around.

We were not the ones that were quick on the trigger. The poster asked a question and I answered it the best I could.

In the very next post the poster threw a hissy-fit and declared they were leaving.

Thats what shows up when you click the Chat link and don't have the requisite 200 or more posts, so thats how VM knows that its blocked to him. Of course instead of giving him(or her to be PC) encouragement to earn that feature people jumped on the bandwagon in a very un-ATS way to instead send VM heading out the door, way to go folks! This is not the ATS I remember from back in the day

Wupy's post was about as factual as it gets. I don't see why anyone would get upset over that, unless he had a chip on his shoulder. What's the big deal over chat anyway? This is a discussion board.

You call THAT jumping onto the bandwagon? Immediately after that post VoodooKid declared that he was leaving. Some people just cannot take anything that they do not like. Hopefully he will return one day with a much more open minded attitude.

That is NOT true. I explained to this member that the quota would not be lowered and in the VERY next post they went off the deep end. It was VM that decided to leave after just one opinion from a mere mod. The members here had nothing to do with this. VM responded to a post from me and me alone.

Go back an re-read the thread to see for yourself.

But, it's not punishment. It's a restriction.

Like 5000 points to but RATS.
Like being 21 to vote and drink (in many states).
Like being 16 to get a driver's license.

There's so much else to see and do in the ATS community, ..... chat is like a treat, something to look forward to.
