Barbie dolls have been banned in Saudi Arabia because
they are considered a corrupting influence on the young.
For one thing Barbie's revealing appearance is contrary to
their puritanical dress code.
Which of course is enforced by the local police, who can
arrest women for even exposing their arms.

If it was I didn't know. I read it barely six days ago.
Sorry about the link not working.
Every other discussion board I go to i never had a problem
with pasting the link there.

As for Barbie I think some of the Saudi men more than the girls who would desire a Barbie.
It's the next best thing to having a playboy magazine which is of course illegal over there.

I think most fail to realize that Saudi society is pretty much alien to us here in the west... As a former resident of Riyadh, I can tell you that I never saw Barbies in the first place, in any toy shops (and this was back in the 80's). The only ones the little girls in my compound had, came from the PX... And it isn't just Playboys...you wouldn't find even Cosmo there...

Funny thing is...as soon as they get away from the holy land, they drink, go to strip clubs, etc. like nobody's business...
Guess it doesn't apply then...
