In Las Vegas you can now be fined or even jailed for feeding the homeless in city parks. I was shocked and sickened when I heard this Friday morning on the news.

Someone at work suggested that the Casinos were probably behind this. Makes sense. The city's growing number of gambling addicts becoming homeless is bad for business.

Our country's treatment of the homeless is a shameful disgrace. I'm becoming increasingly embarrassed to be an American these days. What has happened to our collective conscious?

In Public Parks

a public park setting up a buffet line and attracting the needy or greedy
automatically disenfranchises a lot of the public citizenry, residents.

permits or licenses are one remedy

or holding chowlines on federal land might be another

Nothing to be shocked about here. It is a city park where many cities have laws stating you cannot feed the pigeons and or ducks.

I also doubt the casinos are behind it because there are no city parks on the strip that I know of.

So the homeless are now reduced to the status of ducks and pigeons? Will there be signs like you have in national parks that say "Please dont feed the bears"?

Where else are you gonna feed the homeless if you do not have access to a standard soup kitchen? You cant feed them on the sidewalks because then people will complain anyway.

I think thats disgusting. Plus when you think about how many homeless people are veterans, i find it even more disgusting that they are treated this way.

I don't like people telling me whom I can give food to. I'd be jailed, and sue.

In Boy Scouts I learned to tie bundles of food in a tree so the homeless couldn't get them. I heard that one time a homeless person mauled a child because it smelled a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I believe the homeless in northern Canada mainly eat seals.

I doubt it because most if not all homeless cannot afford the admission price to a National park.

Why single out the homeless? I assume it's perfectly legal to feed the rich at public parks? Pregnant women? Worker Joe? All those rules they invents are so strange...

Well I live in Las Vegas and I personally think its about time they cleaned up the parks, I can not walk my dog in the park near me without being hit up for money every fifty feet.

Las Vegas unemployment is very low, If your not working it is definitely a choice.
