If we follow that the tower of babel was where God created all of the languages of the world and that "babelfish" is a translator, then may I hypothesize that VMS does stand for the Voynich Manuscript, which has not been translated.

most likely...although I don't get it how they expect(ed) us to take 30 days, yet the moment we start to go way off track they help us get back on track...

my guess is that it has nothing to do with drinking since it is dialouge form, but rather who said something (famous) along those lines or what thing (personafied) would ask that question.
