I think it'd be great! There'd be alot less conflict in the middle east, the US wouldnt have to stick it's nose into the area to protect the Israelies in return for oil from the area. The arabs wouldnt be getting upset at America having double standards between the jews and arabs, global terrorism (or so they say) would not have taken off and the world would be a far quiter place than the crap we have now.

I don't think anyone is advocating killing Jews or destroying Israel.

It's a hypothetical question: what would the world be like if an artifical jewish state had not been created in the Middle East? Was it in retrospect a big mistake? Would the world be much more peaceful?

Or would there just been some other lodestone for religious and ethnic intolerance?

My guess is that whilst the conflicts would be different, they would still exist.

If you truely want a peaceful world imagine one in which mankind does not exist ....

Just because the Jews wouldn't be in their small Jewish state would not mean
an end to the violence. If the radical muslims got their way and Israel disappeared
in a fireball, they would then turn their attention elsewhere to hate something or
someone else - probably 'infidel' Europe and 'infidel' America.

Heck .. if 'infidel' Europe and 'infidel' America disappeared then they'd turn the
hate inward and start hating different groups within Islam. We see that now in
Iraq.

Having Israel disappear wouldn't change a thing in regards to violence.
Everyone has to hate someone. It's just the way it works. Take away the

Discussed properly this is a very interesting, and relevant, topic. Had Israel not been created how different would the world be today? Would it be better? Or might it even be worse?

The previous poster had it right when they said these threads seem to only lead to hatred. That's what's wrong with them. They are often one-sided and are rarely "discussed properly". I've been looking through the latest crop of these anti-Israel/anti-Jew threads this morning and I've yet to see one where the topic is being "properly discussed".

Seems like just new places for people to spout their prejudice against a certain people/religion - as they have for centuries.

what i dont understand... is how did the Israelies manage to stay together as a people for so long without belonging to one nation. They lived in all sorts of countries but still refered to themselves as jewish.

people that leave other countries come to my country and call themselves canadian, and they should, this is now their nation too. But how come the Jewish never called themselves german or Austrian or polish of anything other than Jewish. What is so special about being Jewish?

I would say that the middle east would be better off without Israel, no one there wants them there, and for their own reasons. The Jews knew what they were getting into when they chose that region. Why not africa? why not any other place?
