Y'all should just get a good firewall... I've never seen anything of annoyance on ATS like pop-ups, not even the Terminator. Sometimes there's a little banner on top of the menu, ok. And I see ATSnews left and right all the time. But that's it!

That's where the terminator one is, if you roll over it with your mouse, an annoying box rolls out from it, which takes up to 5 attempts to close (at my highest to day)

If you see, it, see if it pops down when you scroll over it. If not, come back and tell us what firewall you're using

edit, cos I just got an 11 clicker

You poor souls! Really I don't see it! And I've been hovering like a maniac with my mouse pointer!
Well I've used A LOT of protection software, but the new Trend Micro Security Pro is just great. Try it!

Glad to hear that you're ad free. I'll give that software a look, thanks for the recomendation.

Speaking of Ad free ATS, I thought that when you had x ammount of stars, flags and posts, you get to have an ad free ATS? I have over 250 of each yet I still have ads at the top and down the side. What's that all about?
Did I get the wrong end of the stick again? (I'm good at that)

I actually see very little ads on ats. It's just that this one was so obtrusive I had to speak up. I understand the need for advertisements, and will live with them gladly if it keeps the site going. I just saw this one as invasive and dishonest.

I'm not kidding.

Really.

I just saw the terminator add for the first time. The most annoying part is that i couldn't close it at all? Clicking on the "x" button in the corner didn't work. I had to reload the page.

I use adblock but not on ats, i'm a boring person who follows the rules

Please get rid of the bloody annoying terminator add!

I could easily get rid of the ads on the site, and I wouldn't even need a blocking program to do it, I can do what the blocking program will do manually.

The reason I don't is because I work on the internet and I know ads pay for the site.

But I've about had it. Between the previous virus attacks, to now a terminator ad that all but locks up my browser I'm getting to the point where I don't give a crap. I'm so close to just blocking the ads now.

I get more ads on this site than I do just about any site on the web. Way more than any site I actually visit with any frequency. It's worse than a geocities porn site.

Simple answer to an annoying problem:
ABP or Add Blocker Plus google it and down load it for Firefox and forever your Ad problems will be solved.

I almost can't stand using other computers without this App. Its simple and easy to use. When you install it, it comes with lists in your geographical area of ads typically blocked by users from your geographical area and keeps those ads blocked, AND if you have new adds simply right click and hit ABP at the bottom of the menu and it will block it for you! Makes page loading speed increase as well and its FREE!

Talk about pure WIN!

Yhea that's what annoys me too - I don't really mind even the ads that float around the screen so long as they behave and close straight away... This one seems to have a delay which is quite cheeky - I thought it might of just been my computer...

My pleasure! I just enjoy the fact that these mind numbing ads get blocked and if you really want to stick it to the advertising franchise I suggest you also download Ghostery, an app for Firefox. This free app can block nosy trackers who use the tracking information, and sometimes your personal information, in order to position ads more effectively.

Again its free and only takes mere seconds to download. Once in use it notifies you what trackers are watching you and if you open up the menu you can look up what the trackers are about which is a nice feature that most other anti-tracking programs don't have, because not all trackers are bad, so its very useful!

The ad's on ATS pay the bill. Why would they get rid of ad's, they have to support this site. You are a very horrible person if you block them! ....You see: normal everyday ads that link to a legit business pay 10 cents per click and 0.001 cent per view, the kill the vampire ad's get 30 cents per click and 1 cent per view. Then, the ad's that "make" you watch them pay 1dollar per view and then the ad's that redirect you and try to give you a virus pay out 10dollars a pop!

Don't you want ATS to make 10 dollars? No?

[sarcasm... off]

Really, thats the only reason I can see why the mods haven't even said anything about it and/or tried to get some sort of resolve. If there is another reason, I'm sure the members who are old enough to see whats going on would love to know and not be talked down to like little children. This many complaints warrents a bit more then the normal "maybe you got it from another site", "we don't see the ad's your taking about" or the ever popular mod wannabes saying "maybe you have malware".

If the mods don't see these things on their end. Make a "normal" user and log in at a library or a computer with no special mod, networking or adsense stuff on it, then refresh lots and read stuff. Ad companys can be tricky.

I have allowed ATS through my Adblock filter because I know that without the revenue, ATS could not exist. I support this in every way (even though I detest ad's - always have).

But that Terminator ad has gotten on my nerves to the point where I am thinking of reactivating the filter until the ad has been removed.

Now that there just got me thinking... Is this why now a days you will see more ad's (everywhere on the net not just here) - more ad's that you actually have to click in some way to close down?

Now_Then, probably. If there was no money involved there would be no reason to waste any ones time. Now if this was any other site then a conspiracy site, I could almost understand. If you keep silent about something bad that most can see, in a room full of paranoids and govt. haters, then talk down to them when you do say something, well...

Financial transparency would be a good way to developing some sort of trust.
