My only problem is that I was not aware of this (maybe I didn't saw where it was said that we would be forced to see adverts), and I thought that I
had commented about this in a previous post and it was said that it was not supposed to happen.
If I knew from the start that this would be the case I wouldn't had uploaded any of my videos to the ATS Media Portal.
PS: Unfortunately, I can not find the post that I mention above and the answer to it, it's difficult to find a specific post in the huge ATS
universe.
Edit:
I found my post, here, and I was wrong, I never got an official answer for
it, it was just ignored.

Not "ignored," just not noticed. Do you really expect that I can read every post?
Likewise, did you not notice the clear mention of ads and ad-revenue sharing
here and
here?
Do you really expect a world-class online video delivery system (that is expensive to operate) to be free of ads?

OK, sorry for the "ignored", I was making assumptions.
And yes, I noticed it, but nowhere did it said that they would be video ads before we could see the videos posted, and the reference to Google
AdSense ads made me think of common ads, not that type of ad that makes us watch it if we want to see the real video.
And no, I was not expecting it to be ad-free, but I was not expecting this type of ads either.
Situation cleared, thanks.

The ad I hate most here on ATS is that white banner that occasionally pops up at the top of the screen telling me that "This is no joke, you are the
999,9999 visitor to the site". I usually ignore it but less than half an hour later it's back telling me I've won again! Arghhhh!
I understand that a site of the size and quality of ATS has to use advertisements to bring in revenue but for the love of all that is holy please get
rid of that one before I lose my sanity and run amok meat clever!

I find This one particularly annoying.
Is Working Online At Home The Way to Financial Freedom?
As part of our ongoing series: "Jobs and the Recession: What you need to know" we examine an industry that, despite the recession, seems to be
booming Working At Home Many websites highlight people making up to $500 per day working online from home on their computer.
Are online jobs the next big thing? As the U.S. economy continues to free-fall, millions of American are finding themselves without jobs, sufficient
retirement or paychecks coming in. In March alone the number of unemployed increased by 694,000 to 13.2 million. Throughout history those on the
cutting edge have adapted and prospered by knowing how to adapt to current economic climates, and this trend may once again be taking place on the
internet.
It look Legits and even grabs your hometown from your IP address to customise it for you. Surely such a blatant scam(and it IS) shouldn't be allowed
on ATS, it might even tempt someone with money problems... or someone that is not too net savvy.

There's an ad for a game called Evony that appears on the right side of the page. It has a woman with her tatas nearly hanging out of her dress. My
husband walked by while I was on ATS and asked if I was watching porn! That one's gotta go...

I just came on to this thread to complain about that one. It's the soppy expression on her face that irritates me.
Also, the ad about the movie that drops down. I wasn't fast enough (or too fast) one day and ended up going to the Amazon site instead of wherever it
was I wanted to go on this forum.

Evony on ATS
Hi Gang
after looking at the ad for Evony over that while I decided to look into it before clicking link and have found numerous posts about suspicious
behavior on PCs after install.
I'll provide one link that talks to this
www.bruceongames.com...
I for one will not install and I would hate that ATS users get stuff with this problem..
I leave it in your hands but would love any feedback on this

I agree about the Evony ad. My problem is that I often read ATS at work, which is ok by everyone, however, I cannot stay in a thread that displays
that ad. My desktop is visible by anyone and that woman sure makes it look like I am some "other" site at first glance.

That game is fake. It was previously advertized as "Civony", but changed to "Evony", and changed to a different skimpily-clad woman, when the
creator realized that people had realized that "Civony" was a fake.
As for the emoticons and mosquito adverts; adverts with sounds were what made me switch to Firefox and install Adblock. My school has Internet
Explorer, though, so that, when I'm browsing the internet on the computers in the school library, this disembodied yell of "Omigawd! No waaaay!"
often disturbs every student in the library. I've been in trouble twice in my school life- once in primary school, where the computers were actually
in the classroom, and once in academy- fordisturbing other pupils/students with advert noise.

Whilst i can understand the need for revenue to run a site like this, i find it hard to equate the comments about it being a quality site with the
tackyness of the adverts.
Surely the forum users on here desrve more than been told they have 'won a prize' for being the 999999 visitor or whatever.
Who decides that the forum users are a worthy target for tack ? Is it the advertisers approaching ATS or do ATS take whatever they can get or do ATS
actively approach advertisers ?
I think ATS forum users deserve something more classy and less demeaning and i recon with a bit of thought, or maybe some ATS management market
research, this could be a great target audience for an 'over telephone alien implant removal service.'

It appears then that what we have here is a community of people who are free(ish) to speak about anything (obviously some subjects or the way we talk
about them are banned and/or will get us into trouble up to the point of being removed from the community).
There is a certain heirachy of people in charge who are able to decide on how the community should be run, can even change the structure and
appearence of the community but apparantly have no control over the commercial sector and allow us to be influenced by advertisements and commercial
pressures.
Advertisements are in a similar catagory to religions and conspiracy stories, they are all used for dissinformation and control and are part of the
new understanding we have about memes and how we are influenced to act by them en.wikipedia.org...
We are assured that everything is done in the interest of the community however and that our opinions do actually count.
Obviously i am talking about our country here, our government and the big business that has a lot of say in, and control of, our day to day lives.
Rules, keeping the money flowing and keeping the citizens in check whilst assuring them they are being looked after, are effective ways of keeping the
status quo and fulfilling the plans of the those in charge.
This is one reason that we all escape here to ATS, to discuss these things and how they effect everyone.
