Regarding the debris theory, debris would stomp on the ground faster than you blink your eyes. Debris don't fly, fall from the sky to the ground and that's it. The second contrail thing stoud there for 2 minutes (according to the author) but a contrail disappear very fast as it starts fading away.
Btw, the shuttle landed in the Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
