That is the position a few illegals took that I talked to recently. And that manifested itself in an undesirable manner to me, which I really don't need to go into here. We talked about many issues, in depth, from the economic incentive for them to be here, to the legal reasons why they shouldn't.

They seem to understand everything up until the point of the legality part. It's like when they have to face their own action of disrespect for the sovereign border and the breaking of US law- it's refusal to believe it- "I didn't really do that." Unacceptance. No matter how it is worded, phrased, or conveyed.

Even when as a last resort I put it to them like this: "Think if you were to try and cross the border into China or North Korea, illegally, covertly, no paperwork, whatever you want to call it. They'd be happy to shoot you on the spot. Here, just because you can get away it and the penalty is less, does not make it any less of a crime. You have still broken the law."

And then it's like mental overload, can't deal with it, and the typical "Well, you're just a racist. You don't like Hispanics."

And by the time I try to explain to them that my best friend in high shool was black, and I have spent years and years in the midst of Hispanics, and that there's no way in hell I am a racist- total disconnection occurs, and I am written off as just another spic-hating gringo. Oh, and how quickly that falsehood spreads around to their friends.

So LIVE with it, people-
You are a racist if you don't want illegals in the US.

Ok people who don't want illegals in the US is not racist I think they just know it getting to be a problem. But thank for bring this up cause there no denying that many of who don't wants illegals in this country are racist in some way. Just the hatefulness in many of these people who don't want illegals in this country is sad they can't see the big picture. The real reason the is a big problem many is the fact the many Hispanics are coming here and many white and black feel overrun let me give an example right now many of my white friends are listen to spanish music but they don't understand whats so ever but they don't care, and car company's are realizing that Hispanics are becoming the majority's thats why there started to make to make model that appeal to them let me show you.

Mercury Struts At Miami Fashion Week In Effort To Gain Hispanic Customers

That the were they talked about it you see they know how big the Hispanics pop. is getting.

Here a quote from the site
The car was designed with the Nuevo Latino in mind by Ford GT car designer Camilo Pardo. Actress Roselyn Sanchez will unveil the car, which will be auctioned online in June at www.Ebay.com/Milan.

Here what he said
"It's going to be really cool because I've never had the opportunity to get involved with the design of a car and then deliver it to the Hispanic community," said Pardo, who is a descendant of Columbia. "We've used the Ford GT as a centerpiece before, but this is a car designed specifically for this purpose, and it is going to be auctioned off for a very worthy cause."

Here what caught my attenion
"This is where the growth is in our own backyard," he said. "The Hispanic market is not the largest of the niche markets, but it is the fastest-growing. By 2010, nearly one person out of every six living the U.S. will be of Hispanic origin, and their buying power will reach $1,087 billion."

From what I heard Mercury want to make cars just for Hispanic too.

So as you can see I can understand why there so defensive about this.

Hmm, so I suppose you'd just love to have illegals in your home country then, correct? And all your countrymen want illegals too then? And the ones that don't are racist in some way?

Yaz gotta be kidding.

Iwas born of Italian , German and Irish decent's. I have lived in the US all my life, I have all crede's of friend's , but they worked hard for thier Green card's and they took the "Higher education route and belief in a democratic way of life" which is what we are. If I get caught speeding all the way up to Murder, there is a price to pay, because it is the law for the United States of America's Fedral agenda for anyone who live's and or reside's here.
Sound's as if you and your friend's that are Latino , or whatever they may be, have a hard time excepting that you are not being excluded from our country, you just have just chose the wrong way's about being in the USA,"If you are an Illegal Alien."
Action's and accountabilities, that is anywhere you go on this planet. Break the laws, "Go to jail" or worst in some countries that don't have the leaniancies of the USA.
"I am not a "Racist" and you have to accept your own choice's of fate, just as we do when we make critical decission and mistake's" IMHO

I don't have a problem with large numbers of people coming here (US) from all types of origins, as long as they participate in the society and help shoulder the burdens.

If you are a lazy freeloader, a "taker," who isn't even bothering to better yourself, and would rather be poor and live on a govt check, then . . .

I have a problem with that, regardless of your skin color or accent. The problem is not with the packaging. It's the person on the inside.

I don't like Takers.

Well, if you really think about it, most of the US population is descended from Illegals.

The Pilgrims did not go through customs.

I personally have no problem with illegal immigration.

Give it 50 years and see if it's still a problem.

i don't want illegals from anywhere coming in - canada, europe, africa, mexico...there's a process of indoctrination for a reason. if you're not used to the customs and practices of america, and you don't know even the basic history, you shouldn't be here. sure, that argument leaves a lot of morons out because they didn't bother paying attention in school, but i have my opinion on that as well - different topic though.

the problem with the mexican illegals is that they have, in general, little respect for the average american. they refuse to learn english in many cases, and because of the situation they place their children in (low income), crime is generated in order to escpae the 'ghettos'.

i'd like to mention to all the uber-sensitive patchouli types that i have absolutely zero problem with anyone who makes the effort to earn their citizenship legally. but keep this in mind - if the US economy failed, and all of the sudden americans were destitute and desperate, do you think any other country in the world would allow us to swarm across the border without citizenship? hell no.

Me either. None. And neither does our legitimate system of immigration. It's those that want to just avoid it, like it's not even there, at this point in US and worldy affairs, that bug me- on many fronts. We've been kind. Turned the blind eye now for generations. Been lax on the laws. Had a heart.

But it has been abused. Seriously abused. Particularly by Mexicans, as is acknowledged by most people. And times have changed- for many americans directly as a consequence of illegal immigration. It is time to do something about it. This society is so different from anything 200 years ago, that an adequate parallel cannot be drawn IMO to the times of Indians and Plymouth Rock. They had neither the foreknowledge or technology to deal with what was about to beseige them. But we do. And can. And should. Lest this country become northern Mexico.

I've worked with alot of Mexicans on various jobs when I was younger. Sometimes the Border Patrol would pull their van over and at the job I was working would lose 10 to 12 very hard working people, they'd be shipped back to Mexico and be back again within 2 weeks. Most Mexicans I've ever met are good people and couteous.

The biggest problem I've heard is the taxes they don't pay and the free health care they get cost U.S. tax payers a lot of money.

I see no reason why they shouldn't be here in the U.S. but they should abide by our laws, this includes our immigration laws.

I don't thik our immigration laws are as tough as their own countries (Mexico) immigration laws are.

Article about Mexicos immigration laws

WASHINGTON (SH) - Mexico has a radical idea for a rational immigration policy that most Americans would love. But Mexican officials haven't been sharing the idea with us as they press Congress to adopt the McCain-Kennedy immigration-reform bill. That's too bad, because Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United States does, has much to teach us about how to handle immigration; under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien

The stark contrast between Mexico's immigration practices and its American-immigration preachings reveals the Mexican government's agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States.

I have a business associate who moved to mexico for a while. Did you know that it is practically IMPOSSIBLE for Anglo-Americans to ever become a mexican citizen? It's not like you have to wait 7 years; there is simply no mechanism . . .

Additionally, as an American citizen in Mexico, you CANNOT legally own real estate. Not even a condo or townhome. (I understand that they don't want a bunch of rich Yanquis buying up their best farmland.) You can NEVER own real property---You have to hire an attorney, and pay him to own it for you.

I know a half-dozen mexican-americans who bought property in the US (cars, homes, farmland) while they were still illegal aliens.

I agree with everyone else. I have no problems with anyone, regardless of where they are from, immigrating to the U.S. if they do it legally. Not wanting the people who are here illegally to be in the country is not racism. It doesn't matter if it's someone from Mexico, Canada, Iraq, or China if they are here illegally they don't need to be here. Like dr_strangecraft said, it's not the packaging, it's the person inside that matters.

In this day & age of political correctness a white male can be a racist for breathing too much oxygen. This whole experiment of multiculturalism is gonna blow up in everyones face. Look to France for your future. RIOTS & too much socialism at tax payer's expense. Look at Canada where all politicians have to learn English & french, learn English Anglo-Saxon common law & French Napoleonic Civil Code to interact on a Federal level. It's gonna happen in America and it's a huge cost.
Nip it in the bud while you still can.
Send the Illegals to the front line as a consequence for capture.
Remove welfare period! Corporate & social!

It seems that whenever people disagree on an issue, it's human nature for one or the other to stigmatize the other so they can prove their point or be right. In this case, if you are against illegal immigration (which I am) the people who support illegal immigration stigmatize you (or me) as 'racist', which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the debate.

Similarly, when someone denounces the president or the US government, people who support the president, call them 'anti-American'. Again, it has nothing to do with the subject.

And you're right, when explained logically, their argument falls completely apart. But that doesn't seem to matter much. I guess we're just anti-American racists... :shk:

Amen, brudda.

Yipee, USA economy failed so it's time to go and take all the jobs from the Canadians and Mexicans. We might have better luck in Canada- cause if nothing else, at least we're not likely to get beheaded at the Canadian border by terrorists.

Oh, but wait!
We gottem ships!
And Planes!
Space shuttles even to get to their countries!
Yipee! Hi ho, hi ho, let's be illegal, let's go...

I heard an ad for something on TV regarding illegal immigration and it was (apparently) an illegal immigrant speaking, saying "I'm not a criminal."

And I want to ask, What is your definition of 'criminal', then?

You know, a person could just as well have illegal drugs in their possission for their own use and claim, "I'm not a criminal."

But we as individuals don't get to say what is against the law and what is not. If we did, I'm sure we'd have a lot of people out there disobeying the law and claiming, "I'm not a criminal..."

Dr_strange, as usual you are da man.
You get a WATS vote from me for your input here, something you said in RATS, and hell, just cause.

Your points just add fuel to the fire.

Do Mexicans allow anyone outside of Mexico to acquire property, or is this just against people from the US?

I personally think the American government is not cracking down on immigration and they will legalize a lot because when there is a war they are going to draft many of them. Watch, the next army will be, 85% recent immigrant (mainly Mexican and Cuban), 10% black, 5% white.

Who was it I heard talking about the "serve in the military for citizenship" plan?

Yup, makes me wonder, do Mexicans get along good with Iranians?

This IS PTS right, where I get to act all crazy and stuff?
