Rant , Who is in charge of the Lebanon ?

A significant point which seems to be overlooked in the “ blame the evil Israelis “ fest .

Lebanon is overrun with armed groups and militias , who take orders from everywhere but Beirut , Currently , Lebanon is an unwilling `host` to 3 significant groups , plus splinter cells factions and criminal gangs . The key groups are :

PPC , the popular resistance committee , with 1000 troops

Hamas , with several thousand troops .

And Hezbollah , with 600 professional soldiers , and 3000 militia

There are other minor groups , and more importantly – all have a pool of the disenfranchised to draw supporters and recruits from .

These groups owe no allegiance to Lebanon , and are certainly not acting in the best interest of the country they are using as a front line and armed camp in their proxy war against Israel

If Iran and Syria have such support and solidarity for these groups – why do they not extend the necessary invitations and let them live on their soil – so that when conflict comes , their territory is the front line .

Why ? because peace and stability are not in the interests of either Damascus , or Tehran .

Plus both have seen the problems Palestinian groups cause Amman . Arab hospitality ? BAH !

Lebanon needs a UN monitored ceasefire , disarmament and demilitarization of none Lebanese government troops . that is the only long term solution which will benefit Beirut

Armed Palestinians in the Bekka valley do nothing for Lebanon , but bring strife . Return Lebanon to the Lebanese , and she will see peace .

If you allow crack dealers to squat in the basement of your house , do not be amazed when the police drug squad raids your property mob handed – this is exactly the situation Lebanon finds herself in .

The question for the Lebanese to ask them selves right now , is why did they allow vast swathes of their country to be over run ??

Jordan successfully evicted the armed Palestinian groups after years of strife – all caused by the Palestinians . When will Lebanon realise what needs to be done , to restore peace and order to their country once and for all ? The Palestinians need a homeland , they do not need a war . Butter , not bullets is what they need from Tehran

If Iran and Syria want to attack Israel , let them muster a combined army on the Golan heights and attempt an invasion , what are they scared of ?? why do they use militias in a foreign country as proxies ? that is not glorious struggle for the Palestinian cause – it is cowardly war by proxy .

Lebanon is not a warmongering state, unlike her neighbors who recieve billions in aid and freebies such as Fighter jets and Weaponry, they are investing in infrastructure rebuilding after being in a 20 year civil war. They never have been or never will be a military power, and if they were, you can bet your bottom dollar Israel would be one of THE first objectors to ANY military build up by the Lebanese military just as they did with iraq, Iran and Syria.

I rate this Rant at a 2.5 on the Rantmeter out of a possible 10

Actually supporting the true Lebanese army may be the best thing to do. As of now, their gov't and army is so weak they can't control their territory. There are two possibilities in this situation IMHO:

1) Israel wipes out Hezbollah from southern Lebanon and international UN troops go in to keep the peace until the Lebanese gov't is strong enough to control it.

2) This continues to escalate into a WWIII situation involving Syria, Iran, the U.S., the U.K. etc., worst case scenario even Russia, China and North Korea.

Hezbollah would not BE in Lebanon in any significant way if other middle eastern governments didn't want it that way. They don't have the money to buy 10,000 rockets on their own. And let's face it Hezbollah is all about building an Islamic state, 40% of Lebanon is Christian, the support for Hezbollah comes as much or more from without rather than within that country.

You can call Hezbollah freedom fighters if you want but............. who the hell are they really fighting for?

After The Phalangists murdered all those Muslims with the help of the Israelis, its not going to be so easy to just disarm them. I even though am maronite myself cannot blame them for not being trusting. Its an awful part of our history, and I hope it never happens again. I do not believe they will disarm so eaily unless they feel comfortable. Perhaps if the Palestinians were back where they belonged instead of in the crapholes they stuff them in Lebanon and there was some Peace, we would have no springing up of groups such as these.
