The Emerald Table.

I have recently come across this very cryptic piece of "knowledge", which owes its inspired truth to none other then Hermes Trismegistus himself :


The Emerald Table

It is true, without any error, and it is the sum of truth; that which is above is also that which is below, for the performance of the wonders of a certain one thing, and as all things arise from one Stone, so also they were generated from one common Substance, which includes the four elements created by God. And among other miracles the said Stone is born of the First Matter. The Sun is its Father, the Moon its Mother, the wind bears it in its womb, and it is nursed by the earth. Itself is the Father of the whole earth, and the whole potency thereof. If it be transmuted into earth, then the earth separates from the fire that which is most subtle from that which is hard, operating gently and with great artifice. Then the Stone ascends from earth to heaven, and again descends from heaven to earth, and receives the choicest influences of both heaven and earth. If you can perform this you have the glory of the world, and are able to put to flight all diseases, and to transmute all metals. It overcomes Mercury, which is subtle, and penetrates all hard and solid bodies. Hence it is compared with the world. Hence I am called Hermes, having the three parts of the whole world of philosophy.



I have looked for an explanation here and there but I am left more confused than when I started.

Is there anybody there that knows what it means ?

Surely if it were something useful for the future of humanity we would be told Gratis and without too much fuss.

So,

Is it just a silly puzzle no longer relevant to to-day's culture?

Is it all hat and no knickers ? (I.E. nonsense dressed up in clever words)

Or is it a " stool pigeon", a decoy to make us so intrigued to have to register in some Secret society or other in order to that they may receive additional financial contribution?

Any ideas ?

I've only read a little on this but you should be able to find a lot on the net by searching and you will get more than one view of course. "that which is above is also that which is below" is an amazing saying that is stll very well known today in todays culture. The kybalion goes over hermetic philosophy (www.kybalion.org...). I dont know if the tablet is a puzzle or bs, but I like it nonetheless.

I've never heard of the 'emerald table'. I was expecting that it was a typo for the 'emerald tablets' of thoth the atlantean when I clicked on the thread. I've got no idea what your posted paragraph means, but I suspect it is something that somebody just made up.

That one only thing is (the Mercury, the Azoth of Secret Philosophy) the father of all things in the Universe.

This is (the Ain Soph Aur, the Ray of Okidanokh, Christus-Lucifer, the Carrier of Light, the Sexual Potency, the Cherub) the strength of all Powers. With this (White Tantrism) thou wilt be able to overcome all (Karmic) things and transmute (within your Psyche) all what is fine (from above) and what is coarse (from below).

Introducing the entire concept, it is stating that the world reflects the heavens; with the heavens being equal to the world in that what we deem on earth must also exist in Heaven, because nothing created can be more than its creator. The "stone" is the subject of this whole discourse as it is titled the Emerald table.

And among other miracles the said Stone is born of the First Matter. The Sun is its Father, the Moon its Mother, the wind bears it in its womb, and it is nursed by the earth.

The mystery here is not that the stone is born of the "common substance", but that it became a shining precious stone; an emerald. This is referring not to stones at all, but something deeper. The meaning is really hidden within the symbolism of stones.
The meanings behind the heavenly bodies and the wind is like this:

The sun gave birth to all matter in our solar system, therefore it is the Father of the stone. The moon was a secondary result of the formation of the planets, thus it becomes female gendered much like the story of a woman coming from man in the book of Genesis. The wind bearing the stone in its womb, regards the time from whence it is concieved to the time of its birth. It is contained until a time when it is shown as a precious stone. The winds refer to one of the four elements which occur on earth. The author could have used any of the other three, and maybe there is something to the wind by this, but each of the 4 have an opposite that battles with the other. When they are done, then the stone is revealed as an emerald.

Itself is the Father of the whole earth, and the whole potency thereof. Some of this wording is a little unclear as to what they are trying to say about the emerald being placed on earth, but it has something to do with the refinement of the stone and the end of the refinement because the precious stone was placed there. The reason is that the stone always was the Lord of the earth, but until it is shown, no one knows it. At that time, what is on earth becomes equal to what is in heaven, because the people see the stone and believe that an emerald can be born from common stone.

If you can perform this you have the glory of the world, and are able to put to flight all diseases, and to transmute all metals. It overcomes Mercury, which is subtle, and penetrates all hard and solid bodies. Hence it is compared with the world. Hence I am called Hermes, having the three parts of the whole world of philosophy.

This is the clear message of the whole text, that the stone and emerald are talking about a spiritual agenda coming from above to below and that certain individuals are set aside to be born of God and the earth, but the earth will not know them until they are shown to the world. Those chosen will become like Gods in the flesh and able to heal diseases and restore the balance to everything, including keeping metals from oxidizing, which is what transmuting metals means, a form of entrophy.

There's no such thing as "before Christ" in relation to the Maha-Kalpa, because Christ is the Light, the first manifestation from the AIN SOPH.

Notice that that which is in parenthesis is the commentary on the Emerald Tablet.


Many are said to have Incarnated the Christ long before the personality of Yeshua Ben Pandera did.

The Adorable God Kristos (Christ) comes from archaic cults to the Fire-God. The letters P (Pyre) and X (Cross) are the hieroglyph which represent the generation of the Sacred Fire.

Christ was worshipped in the mysteries of Mithra, Apollo, Aphrodite, Jupiter, Janus, Vesta, Bacchus, Astarte, Demeter, Quetzalcoatl, etc.

The Christic principle has never been absent from any religion. All religions are one. Religion is as inherent to life as humidity is to water. The Great Cosmic Universal Religion becomes modified into thousands of religious forms. Thus, the priests from all religious forms are completely identifiable with one another through the fundamental principles of the Great Cosmic Universal Religion.

Therefore, a basic difference between the Mohammedan priest and the Jewish priest, or between the Pagan priest and the legitimate Christian one, does not exist. Religion is one. When a religious form degenerates, it disappears; yet, the universal life creates new religious forms in order to replace it.

Authentic primeval Gnostic Christianity comes from Paganism. Prior to Paganism, the Cosmic Christ was worshipped in all cults. In Egypt, Christ was Osiris and whosoever incarnated him was an Osirified one. In all ages there have been Masters who have assimilated the Infinite Universal Christic Principle. It is saying that we must stay in Chastity by praying to our Divine Mother(feminine aspect of the Solar Logos), as to become One with Her and elevate ourselves above the Dragon with the Seven Heads(the ego as whole, its seven capital sins and the thousands of tongues(subtle egos) contained within each head).

And that we left Eden through the door of sex, and is the same door through which we must return(by marrying and practicing Sexual Magic without ever reaching the orgasm; and by applying a 'gentle heat' so that we don't get too excited like animals, the latter of which would cause us to spill the Glass Cup of Hermes and fail in the Great Work).
