Ahh, imagine that...Politics at ATS actually having the posts that should be there, there. :O

The Middle East Conflict is what exactly? It's Political and has been for many a decade now. It should be on PTS and I'm glad to see Simon, Skeptic and Springer realised this. It is about time PTS got the posts there that should be there.

When I click "NewPosts", I have to go to "PTS Only" even from the PTS site. It takes a whole of 1 second to do that. :O So you know what I do? I "Right click" and "Open in New Window". :O That way, I just hit F5 and wham, bam, it's on the posts I want to see and teh threads I want to read are in different windows. Not really that hard and I've now seen more ATS threads than I'd normally have because of it.

Personally I really like the way the new set up works.....I like to post in PTS and i enjoy the political ramblings....What is nice imho is that now we can keep it of ats....the color coding makes it easy to distinguish between bts and pts.

I imagine there was prolly alot of pressure against the inception of BTS. PTS is a good idea because it allows pure conspriacy theorists to go about thier buisness without being bogged down by random people posting politically biting responses in conspriacy threads.

and also it requires you(plural) to learn how to figuritivly btch slap someone without actually coming out and doing it. PTS is a place to refine your ideas into a more cohesive and easier explained idea.

Think of it like RATS. ATS is becoming its own equivalnt to rats. Politics is really not a secret....its more like orwells "double speak" which can really bring out the emotions in people, nessecitating a "Slug fest" forum.

Val normally u and I agree but i really dont see how PTS is spam.....Spam is Viagra home morgages make ur penis bigger things. PTS its just conspiracy with a political slant.

Trust me you will come to appreciate it.....or atleast I hope you will

Anyways mad props to ATS admins because to me this is the more efficent and least restrictive way of keep politics out of ATS and I think thats what everyone really wants.

In My Own Words

For anyone interested in hearing my rationale for recommending this, I made a podcast:

Politics: The New PTS Revolution (reply 2)

Also, I posted at length on the subject here:

Oh, so now PTS is shoved down our throats?

Not sure why people are so upset with P@ATS. In my interpretation, instead of having politics as a forum, it now has a dedicated zone for those members who wish to discuss political matters. It has dedicated FSMEs and Mods, who are scrutinising the posts to ensure we don't go back to the bad old days of "Neo-Con/Liberal" barrage posting. Those who want to contribute can seek it out. Those who would rather stick to discussing lizard-folk and controlled demolitions can stay in the main ATS site (though I agree that a permanent filter is needed, and SO has indicated that this is happening). P&ATS isn't outside of ATS, it is part of it.

So, in my humble opinon, P&ATS is a good thing. It will suffer teething problems, but that is to be expected. There have been a lot of changes here recently, and I've never seen feedback go unappreciated here. Make a suggestion and see what happens. But P&ATS gets my vote of approval.

On topic though, I agree that Slugfest may not be the best idea ever. My main concern is that relationships may be damaged there that will flow into the regular forums. But I will give it some time, and see what happens.

Ok thanks for the screenshot, me being the genius that I am was looking for the "ATS Only" button in the ATS main page, go figure.

BTW can we get an ATS Only button for the threads in the Home Page, you know the ones updated every 5 minutes?

Bravo to SO, Majik, and anyone else who is making this happen.

I have been on ATS for over a year and I have seen many changes take place. I wasn't always thrilled with them, but I learned that I can trust our admins and mods to be able to take care of business. I learned that progress cannot take place without change. I want ATS to make progress, so I must welcome changes.

I think that SO and Majik have the sense to tell whether or not the slugfest forum is doing some damage. They know what they are doing, and if slugfest ends up with ugly consequences, they'll change it. I have faith in their ability to moderate and make decisions. They didn't inherit their positions and their names weren't picked out of a hat. They are where they are for a reason.

I think that rather than throw ugly complaints around, perhaps we could just provide constructive feedback so that the changes that are being made can continue to evolve and become just what ATS needs. We all stand to benefit when it is complete.

maybe the better option would be to have tick boxes for the forums you do or dont want to see included in the new posts section.

Is this what you are referring to?
www.abovetopsecret.com...

It lists the new posts in all the forums you have listed here:

no, that only lists new posts in subscribed threads. i was thinking if there was any way beforehand to filter out what is seen in the newposts area, so every time you hit refresh, you dont see the forums you dont want to. perhaps it could be set up in the members settings area. list them all and you can choose which you want to view
