Indeed it is, I remember seeing a documentary about this. The Y/F-16 was suppsoed to do a high speed taxi? (don't remember the correct name) where it was suppsoed to go as fast as possible on the ground without actually starting to fly. Now because the wings were negative-v and top mounted (and the lack of computers) the plane took off and it took and became impossible to control. It took 30 minutes for the test pilot to get the plane safely back to the ground.

Really? Would you care to elabourate?

The wings seem pretty neutral to me and mid mounted in relation to the plane (but low mouted not considering the air intake), see here....

Yes, but your picture is an F-16 wich isn't the same thing as Y/F-16, I'am only saying what I heard on the document, so might be it isn't totally correct. I'am searching for the cideo but you have no idea how hard it is to ind pictures of the Y/F-16 on google and altavista.

Compare Y/F-17 with F-18

That would actually be the YF-17 but that's just splitting hairs.

Your loosing me mate.

The differences between the YF-16 (the prototype) and the F-16 (production variant) are basically zero. The YF-16 carried no weapons, which afforded it a better C of G and thus more maneourability, but the actual main characteristics of the plane, i.e. wings, fuselage and cockpit, etc. are exactly the same.

Your little pic of the YF-16 even shows the wings

Yeah, from those pic the only diffs are colors, dis-regarding fake payloads.

Its still a case of ones a prototype of the other.

There is a layout maybe also carries missile beside airintake which as if a US navy plan compete with F-18. Who have that layout picture?

We would need a larger picture of the Y/F-16 to be sure about the wings, yes they aren't top mounted but they might still have a couple of degrees negativ-v wich is impossible too see from a small pciture like that. The video would explain it all, I havne't found it yet but I'am still looking.

Thank you for your zeal.
I need a pic of F-16 that should be a layout for US Navy. This pictrue is too small to see minutia. So I want a better one.

Well, this is a USA navy F-16 model, I don't think it's meant for carriers but rather for Top-Gun usage. According to Wikipedia USAN has 40 F-16. But I believe the model you are looking for is designed for carrier use?

NAVY BACKGROUND:
The Navy uses several aircraft to provide realistic air combat maneuvering training. The Naval Fighter Weapons School, commonly referred to as Top Gun, at Miramar, Calif., is a center of air-to-air combat expertise. The Navy uses the F-16N at Top Gun to teach the Navy's best fighter pilots how to become proficient at air combat maneuvering while developing and proving new air superiority tactics. The newest adversary fighters is the Navy variant of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the F-16N. The performance characteristics of the F-16N closely match those of the latest MiG aircraft.

F-16N real size
