Syd Barrett, the original singer/songwriter of Pink Floyd, has died.

A sad day, his life was never the same after leaving Pink Floyd, hopefully he'll get the peace and quiet he always wanted now.

Thanks for adding that link Helmutt. The "date of death" on there has changed from the 7th July to the 9th in the last few minutes, so it seems all thats known is he died of Diabetes related illness "a few days ago".

He was only 60 years old too, another legend gone, this ones for you Syd

Syd, you are not "Long Gone", and we will miss you. Your ousted candle sends smoke into the air, and trails behind your soul. In life, you were soft, quiet, catatonic at times. But the things you didn't say is what counts. The way you lived, was not the best, but we all could learn a lesson from you. To let your soul run free, and to never be drawn in to another person's thoughts. To not only thing out of the box, but to ignore it altogether. You lack of presence in this world has hurt us all. We hav e all lost a close friend to day. Shine on, Syd. Shine on.

I saw it the papers. I was sad, true. But he had vanished from public life so long ago, I always wondered where he was.

Well, at least hes on the best trip hell ever know!
