The Republicans Have a Plan - And it is Called FEAR

Terrorism plots are back in the news. Threats from around the world being hyped - especially threats that though ''sexy'' -- like North Korea -- aren't really threats at all, while real threats like the reemergence of the Taliban in Afghanistan and Islamic extremists taking over Somalia are never mentioned. Too, there are more false claims of WMD having been discovered in Iraq.

It was WMD that the Department of Defense and experts have said were so old -- leftover from 1980's -- as not to be harmful and were not the WMD Bush claimed as his reason for invading Iraq. Nonetheless, it is WMD being sold to GOP voters by the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh as "proof" Saddam had massive stockpiles of, and an ongoing WMD program.

IMO, this story is very true. Lets keep the fear going at all costs. What does it mean? It means it's an election year and, therefore, Bush and Republicans need to instill false fear and outright lie in order to trick voters into supporting them.
Do you buy their plan? Or do you see thru it???

The Democrats also have a plan.....wait...never mind...they don't!

Unless Bush-Bashing is a plan?

Oh wait...raising the minimum wage, uh....yeah that's a good plan? At least they will get the 16-17 yr old vote. Oh, wait you can't vote until you are 18. Dang foiled again!

The Democrats don't need a plan. The Republicans and their connection with the oil companys, and $3.00 a gallon gas and record oil company profits just handed the democrats the elections for the next twenty years. Dang, is right!

And calling somebody a bush Basher isn't an insult anylonger. Need a massage!

I don't believe it is fear that is compelling anyone to vote either way. I'm not afraid of North Korea or Somalia hurting me. Maybe you are afraid of them, but I am more worried about a drunk driver or some disgruntled nutcase slicing me up at my local movie theater or grocery store.

If you do not believe North Korea is a potential threat to the US and our allies I don't understand your reasoning. Somalia, well, I really don't understand why you're afraid of them and their terrorist occupiers in the first place. Unless you live in Somalia. It's not a super situation, but it doesn't instill fear in ME. Concern, not fear.

Three bucks for gas? Yeah, it sucks, but we have the environmentalists to thank for that. At a few cents a barrel, gas distributors aren't exactly making a bundle on gas alone. Exxon-Mobil is a diversified congolerate. Record profits may continue barring another Valdez, et alia because more and more people around the world are buying gasoline and oil derivatives.

I just cannot see fear as a campaign mechanism... I'm not afraid, I feel better than ever, and I'm not an extremely wealthy oil-man! Maybe I'm just too loyal a disciple of good 'ole Doc Pangloss!

edit: I wrote "inspire" when I meant "instill"... No jokes, please

@ whaaa

That's what you thought in 2004!

dgtempe is right. If America is worried about the War on Terror, Republicans will win.

Because when it comes to national security, you can hear the same Democrat talking points coming from Saddam Hussein, or on the latest Al-Queda video.

Two divergent doomsday scenarios are competing to occupy fears; one an "Inconvenient Truth" and the other a simple outbreak of World War III.
Although one is more certain to invoke immediate Armageddon than the other there seems to be competition as which will capture our fear. Humanity has a capacity to inhale a multitude of trouble and though the average man may think it acceptible to embrace all fears those who market these future doomsdays have calculated room for only theirs.

If you're accusing Republicans of spreading fear for political gain, you must admit that Democrats do the same thing. What about their fear-mongering about the economy, rising interest rates, never-ending war, etc., etc., etc.

You can't deny it's a two-way street dg....

As djohnsto77 pointed it out, democrats and republicans are the same fear-mongering people. Their goal is to push us to give them our civil rights, and it's working till now. So why stop with that? No rights till police state, dictatorship eternal martial law.

They didn't created War On terror for nothing. It's an endless war against an enemy with no face, that's the beauty of it. Eternal war for eternal dictorship, welcome to 1984. Soon, our kids will be shouting:

It's better to die against terrorists for the government than live for ourselves!

Amen brother. That's what Republicans do... control thru fear. It's basic psychology.

At least democrats try and focus on real issues. Like domestic issues!

Can you please let me know what the Democrats' plan is for any issue? I certainly haven't heard one other than to attack Bush and the Republicans.

I'm assuming this is tongue in cheek!

DJ's right, all sides are trying to "play on our fears", to quote Al Gore. The 2004 election really drove that concept home, with both party's essential platforms being, "vote for us or they'll kill you!" The they, of course, was the other party, and how they would kill you depended on the target audience.

The only one I've heard is to cut back on the obscene profits the oil companys are making so the small businesses can grow the economy back into some semblance of reality. As a small businessman, I see the mega corps profit while the local small businesses take it in the ass due to high energy prices.

We know who the republicans are pimpin for and it sure isn't the entrepreneurs of small businesses.

I don't understand how someone can just brush off the threats that terrorism poses to our country like dust on their shoulder. "Oh, that's just FEAR MONGERING again! Those dirty Republicans trying to conjure up more fear... Man, I can't wait until the terrorists strike again. Then the Republicans will really play the fear card!"

It's ridiculous. Whether you like it or not, there are forces in the world that pose real and serious threats to the United States. Knowing about these threats is key to knowing where you stand on the issue of fighting them. When no threats are reported, people accuse Bush of not solving anything. When terrorists plots that our government foils thanks to measures we've taken to protect our country surface, it's the GOP up to its usual fear mongering antics!

Do you (anti-Bush people) want to hear about these threats, or not? Perhaps you're angry when they surface because you're afraid the public will finally understand the threats that we're facing? You can't have it both ways. Or maybe, with the right propaganda, they can.

They dont have a plan. Their plan now is to quietly follow in the NWO footsteps and they're only there for cosmetic purposes.

No. And those who seems to support Bush, like you, are unable to face facts that he's against the american people, against the constitution and against the sovergnity of this country. So how would someone bright would still support him? No one.

I'm wondering how someone "bright" gets tricked, by a number of things, into turning against our president and government instead of against the real threat. Do you just choose to ignore the fact that terrorism present a real threat against us instead of dealing with it?

~~

Prepare youselves for another announcement from the President,

The speach for the day, 5 Sept '06,
will be about "The Nature of the Enemy"

i expect GW Bush will expand the meaning of 'Islamo-Fascism'
to include persons & philosophy dedicated to 'Dark Ages'....

where science and human betterment is set aside in favor of
myopic & rigid adherence to extreme religious rituals.
