There'll never be another single person who'll have such an influence on music -ever.

Apart from Beethoven / Mozart it's hard to think of anyone who had more influence on all the music we love and listen to.

If you love music then you owe Peely a debt. He's gone now so it's sadly too late to show our appreciation.

Those in Europe know what I'm talking about

Those elsewhere may not:

In 2002, the BBC conducted a vote to discover the 100 Greatest Britons of all time. Peel was voted 43rd.
- 'nuff said

en.wikipedia.org...

Some idea of what he accomplished

www.bbc.co.uk...

Most famous for his 'John Peel Sessions' - often giving unknown bands the chance to get airtime and thus get recording contracts

Check wiki for Peel Sessions (can't make the link work)

Without Peely it's impossible to imagine where music would be now - No Heavy Rock, Folk, Folk-Rock, Bob Marley etc, Smiths etc, Fairport etc, Sex Pistols etc, Cure etc, Jam etc ................. etc etc etc

RIP John, gone but not forgotten

I agree with 100% John Peel played lots of good # and some # # but the metal he played on air was cool.
