Just go for the cheapest you can find. As long as it’s a ICANN accredited registrar, you’ll be safe.

Network Solutions (Verisign) is most likely a CIA front company (but that’s a ATS subject) They’re more expensive and corporations usually buy from them, but I don’t see any reason why you’d want to.

GoDaddy has a sale that you could take advantage of. (1.99 for each NEW domain)

About the trademark, you probably don’t have the legal clout to enforce it, but check out the US trademark office.
Is registration of my mark required?
No. You can establish rights in a mark based on legitimate use of the mark.

I just checked some of the fees for processing trademarks, wow.

About parking the domain,you don't need that, many registrars give you the option of forwarding to anywhere you want. (ie. www.domain-something.com or even www.geocities.com/9483275 )
