I think he's just trying to get out of going to prison.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Enron founder Kenneth Lay died early Wednesday in Aspen, Colo., a family spokeswoman said.

Lay, 64, was awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of conspiracy and fraud in the Enron trial in May.



At least that was my initial, conspiracy-minded reaction. How difficult is it to fake your own death and get away with it? Is it even possible?

I live in the Houston area, and I have yet to meet one person who truly believes Ken Lay is dead. Rumor has it that he's sipping pina coladas on some exotic tropical island.
