Not true Justmytype. Cheyenne Mountain is home to the US Space Command. That's where all the tracking of objects in orbit, and everything is done.
That's why they're on a higher alert.

Vandenberg is the site of one of the missile intercept launchers IIRC. That's probably why they were on alert.

The defensive system currently consists of 11 ground-based interceptor missiles, nine deployed at Fort Greely, Alaska, and two at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
