The JFK speech was great. I'm not one of those who regard him as a saint, and I tend to believe the stories about Joe using mob connections to get him elected... but this was a hell of a speech and very pertinent to contemporary events. No wonder he was assassinated. I'm astonished at his blunt revelations about a hidden network that prefers "coups to elections"... could he have been talking about the CIA? Yes, he could, but he seems to infer that it's bigger and more international even than that.

I'm just viewing the other video now... it looks to be very interesting.

Hobbes you really need to listen to the recording about 100 times. Understand? There is a lot of information in just that five minutes or so. Listen to it many times, slow it down if you really have too. Kennedy was a great orator. There has never been another public speaker in politics like him Period.

Hmm. Doesn't seem to be alot of interest in this topic. I thought it would have been interesting discussion.

It was bigger and more international... it was the the red scare, the communist menace, The Cold War, The Iron Curtain, The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, China, Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, The German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, McCarthyism, the Korean War, the Berlin Blockade, the Berlin Wall, the Vietnam War, the Cubian Missile Crises, the Bay of Pigs, Atomic bombs, "Duck and Cover", Defcon 1, Nuclear arms race, Nuclear Winter, the Doomsday Clock, " lets play Global Thermonuclear War", East German "female" athletes... you know the whole evil empire thing.
