Scientists have discovered that a protein from the yellow Israeli scorpion attaches itself to glioma cells. Taking advantage of this natural attraction, researchers have been piggybacking the radioisotope iodine 131 into the diseased areas of the brain. Once the protein attaches to the malignant cells, the radioactive material kills the cancer, leaving the healthy parts of the brain untouched.
