The Super Hornet is basically a new build, apart from the name and a few cosmetic similarities and original internal systems the Super Bug is a new aircraft. And a much better one than the old Hornet I might add, I’m becoming quite fond of this aircraft with each and every passing day. Yup. Quite amazing isn't it that they managed to repeat some of the same problems!


The A/D models had the problem with vortex burst on the 'vertical' fins... and surprise, surprise, so did the E/F.

The E/F program also had the wing drop and underwing buffet problems, which forced solutions that compromised performance.


If the E/F didn't have its radar advantage over most contemporary fighters, it would certainly not be a 'kick-ass fighter'. In my opinion that reflects very poorly on the airframe.
