my biggest fear... is not being able to take care of myself. i fear that i have become too reliant on a system that is supposed to supply me with everthing iv'e come to get used to in my life. I'm still young (26) but iv'e never had to keep employment through a recession. I've never had to feed my family in times of crisis. Instead iv'e gotten used to everything being the way it is in a booming economy, i make way more than i need, and i have no idea what its like to lose it all. I know it has to happen eventually. so i guess my fear is actually anxiety.

sorry to sound so serious, so far the thread has been lite natured and rather funny. You guys arn't really afraid of insects and clowns are you? you were kidding right?

wu kung... i forgot to mention in your other thread, you need to move to canada, i cant believe you pay your taxes and owe so much in med care.

Once again, another good thread, down to earth and REAL.

The absolute only thing I fear is being injured to the point of being completely or close to completely unable to function/dependent on someone/something to live, but yet having a sound mind and trapped in this body, unable to escape. Anything less than that is fine and dandy. I know where I'm going, it's just the fact that getting there is a pain.

I fear heights (I'm ok with planes, but loathe being on a ladder), dying in a fire (I'm not afraid of fire in and of itself, but think that burning to death is the most horrible way to go) and urinary catheters (luckily I've never had one, but heard its a very unpleasant experience).

I am not afraid of anything. Commitment is probebly one fear, but I don't think that counts as a fear. Come to think of it, I do have one fear. I fear one day, both affable "funny" folk, like Russell Brand or Vernon Kay will join forces to make a tv series about themselves, which inadvertantly starts World War 3. I can see it now... Propaganda will pump series 1-25 in a continuous loop, on all channals, even the nudie ones just to show how "funny" these charlatans really are. They must be because of their widespread popularity. Their faces will adorn posters, black and red, like old Soviet pictures asking you in bold type "Are you going to die for your country OR WHAT??! EHHH??! HUH!?!? or "COMING SOON! SERIES 26: The Axis of Mediocrity. Our beloved leaders, Vernon Kay and General Russell Brand, attempt to gather all of the "funny" people in the world for a one-off tv special. They gather Jerry Seinfeld, Andy Minomakus, DJ Westwood, Andy Dick, and a whole host of "funny" people that'll make you slap your thighs in wholesome joy. But not all goes to plan! Will they gather the people in time with their military might??? TUNE IN NEXT WEEK!"

You may consider my fear strange, even slightly insane, but it's mine.

I do not fear that God will judge my sins, I fear that God will forget my soul. (freaky but true)

I fear Bigfoot. I saw one once and shudder to this day when I remember the experiance.

Though I believe it would be easier to stop the sun from shining or the season from changing than to stop the growth of the eternal soul, I fear I may be wrong.

I'm not afraid of learning the truth about everything, I'm afraid that I may not.

Just some thoughts on fear,

wupy

Tom Goose, you are, of course, always welcome on my threads and thanx for the compliment! If you can, throw a comment or two on the other thread (try to keep it alive for the other people!)

To everyone else, feel free to express your fears. I'm not saying that I can help you, but I (and a few others) are always willing to listen; besides it might make you feel a little better just to get it off your chest. Plus, it's cheaper than therapy
!
Wether or not you feel your fear is ridiculous or serious, I encourage you to participate, of course, please do so at your own discretion; I wouldn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable!

Did I mention that I'm affraid that I can't get the quoting function to work properly!

Im afraid of hights, but the only time I panic around them are when its my children around hights.
Im afraid my children will be found by a child predator.
Im afraid something will happen to me and I won't be able to take care of my children.
Im afraid of losing my sanity.

'the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself'

my dad used to say 'fear is a mind killer'

is worry a fear? I worry about the fate of my kid from time to time... I'm not sure that's a fear though....

Yeah, sure, that counts.
Lots of people on this thread have the fear of well-being for their child or grand child.
It sounds totally legit to me.

Oh yeah, I know it sounds totally ridiculous, but I'm affraid (and by affraid, I mean totally and utterly scared of) of zombies.
Yeah, yeah, I know, no such thing.
Well, maybe no such thing.
But seriously, something that used to be a human being, with their own life, dreams, hopes (etc.) that is reduced to a mindless, cannibalistic, flesh eating death machine, incapable of reason and oblivious to the pain and terror it inflicts on all in its path in its search for sustenance. And that damn zombie plague that is transmitted through their bite, man...I'm not sure what's worse...fending off against wave after wave of zombies, or getting bitten and waiting that agonizing wait until the inevitable and horrifying transformation into one of them....(yeah, can you tell that I've put a good deal of thought into this...I guess that's why it's called an irrational fear).
The wierd thing though, I freakin' love those zombie movies.
I guess because those are the only movies that really scare the hell out of me.

and urinary catheters (luckily I've never had one, but heard its a very unpleasant experience).

UnBreakable, I had a newbie nurse actually pierce my junk while trying to insert a catheter, it hasn't been the same since then.

My fear is that I'll have a heart attack and no one will be around to help me.
I've had 2 heart surgeries already, the fear looms overhead........

I fear over intrusive and arrogant government powers and those who believe they have that power to do as they wish.

I may have a small fear of death before I feel ready.

I have a fear of becoming evil and not being able to turn the clock back to the good ol days.

I have a fear that the entire world is nothing but an elaborate dream I am having and my slightest thoughts can cause all kinds of havoc in this world. boo

I also have a fear what if my dream about being an alien terrorist was not just a dream and there are wanted posters of me in several star systems.
Actually I dreamed of being black listed as someone never to abduct again.

Small spiders. I've held a teranchilla no problem, no fear, but small spiders you get in your average house freak me out. Irrational fear passed on from a parent, classic.

My biggest fear is dying or going anyplace where I cannot be there to care for my children, and not being able to to protect them from the idiots in this world
That scares me to death everyday!

My phobia, is frogs, green ones. I am scared to death of them! Like the ones on my window rite now. They grow as big as a full grown bull frogs and they hop everywhere, they will be looking in the opposite direction, and jump rite on ya!, and they make a "plop" sound when they land on your skin !
lol

i fear reincarantion...

i hate the fact that when you die, you might be reincarnated, when this happen, everything that you've work for in your current life cycle; your family, your friends, your children, your success, your failures, everything will be lost.

it will be lost within the soul, clouded by the ignorant mind of the next cycle, and you have to wonder, what is the chance you will unravel your pass life in your next cycle, if you will, will it even matter to you anymore, you have a new life now....

that thoughts taunt me ever since i was young....but it gives me comfort that we can end the cycle...through enlightenment.
