Except for a few exceptions, I have never really "taken" to death or black metal. Of course I am in my fifties (yeah, I'm an old fart) so that might be the reason but I do love metal.

I have many favorite metal bands; Iron Maiden, Black Label Society (with Zack Wylde), Ozzy, Black Sabbath etc. But, if I had to pick just one metal band, that would have to be Judas Priest with Rob Halford. As far as I am concerned, Rob Halford is the epitome of metal vocalists. While their are certainly better guitar players in the metal genre, the sound that the "double axe attack" of K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton create are what I love about metal. Yep, no doubt, for me Judas Priest rules the metal genre.

The one and only Judas Priest!!!!!

So glad that Rob's back. Angel of Retribution is soooo freakin' good.

Would add Sabbath, Maiden, BOC, Anthrax, and a long list of others.

Drunk, great choice. Toxic Waltz, Cajun Hell, and the best ever Verbal Razors.

Btw, all this talk about priest has me remembering the early years.
I took my wife to her first Priest concert last year on the Angel tour and was remembering my first Priest concert on the Screaming for Vengance tour... lol.

Ahh, the good old days of metal.

I have never gotten into metal. I have always respected it highly, but I never really was compelled to listen to it. However lately I have found that I really enjoy Pantera. The guitar riffs and Phil Anselmos voice just seems to speak to me.

I never got into death or black metal. I don't really care for the "cookie monster" vocals a lot of singers do in those styles. You know, low and grumbly like they are trying to sound like a demon.

I'm suprised that I have not seen Lamb of God posted in this thread yet!

I don't really know what to clissify them as, but Lamb of God gets my vote

tool / 10000 days

any soulfly

the new butterfly effect album ( there touring here next month and im taking my 10yr old daughter to her first metal show).
