Why in the @#$@@&* couldn't they have just given her some morphine and whatever the Kevorkian Kocktail is and let it be over quick and painless?

I heard that it was the Right To Lifers/Christian Fundamentalists that way-back-when introduced the idea of removing the feeding tube to end a patient's life rather than the Kevorkian Kocktail because the former was "natural" and in "God's Natural Way" and the latter "murder." Is this true, does anybody have a source on the validity of this claim, or is this a Liberal urban legend?

Matt How are you saying it is over when the family will not appeal federal ruling and the judge is to rule on the latest motion by noon today and she is still alive? You can watch any news channel to see what is going on right now.

I think you should check the news before posting that she is dead. Of course you probably won't believe the news anyway.

I think removing the feedingtube is gruesome and hypocritical (like pushing somebody from a building and stating that gravity killed him), no even a .45 bullet is much more mercyfull.

If Terri Schiavo indeed stated in the past she wouldn't want to carry on in a veggie state should such thing occur, I personally would feel she has the right for some morpheine/ingredient-x cocktail to end it,

the problem is, she has not written that on paper, we have to take her husbands word for it and on the other hand her parents word against that plus their is the possible pollution factor of an insurance policy.

while I do support the right for euthanasia, I am pretty much outraged about that hypocritical feeding tube removal , also , I don't see substantial evidence (I would held the oral testimony versions of both husband and parents equal) for Terry expressing that she would want to have an end put in a case like this,

So, this is not beyond doubt and as Terry even in possibly vegetive state is hold dear and valuable by her parents I would give them the benefit of the doubt and me would side with the pro-lifers on this one (for slightly different reasons)

As I have been pondering on this for the past several days, I have refined how I feel about this.

We do not have conclusive evidence that this is Terri's desire, not to be kept alive, so as others have stated you should be on the side of life and side with those who cannot speak for themselves. The defenseless should be defended. I think the bad and increasing danger is the U.S. through it's court system is legally endorsing this and she is being put to death under what is the verbal word of another. All the judges have pronounced this death as an OK thing. This could be leading into the future of more cases in this same area and even going further as maybe in the cases of alzheimers patients, and their being put to death. The door has been opened to the premature death of others. While the death penalty, which I am not for, is used on those committing a crime Terri's case has now moved beyond people having done a criminal offense to someone who has done no wrong but merely been placed in an unfortunate circumsatance not of her own choosing. Plus it's a medical problem and alot of people have medical problems that cause hardships(alzheimers, downs syndrome, parkinson's disease, MS etc.

In 1973 the government of the U.S. legally endorsed the termination of the life of unborn children and now 4000 a day are aborted. 32 years from now will euthanasia claim the same number.

I could care less! How about that!

She breathes on her own and she used to eat on her own. If you puke that would be your own choice I wouldn't be making you. Next time I see a commercial on TV for world vision or some other organization like that I wonder if I should call and tell them to let these little children's belly's swell up and let them die with dignity.

And I forgot please don't brush the flies off there face because that makes them look more dignified as they die.

She is on a respirator, which aids in breathing. If she didn't need it, then she would'nt be on it.

I have never once heard it reported that she is on a respirator and as a matter of fact I have heard it reported several times that she is not on a respirator.

Why not adopt a homeless child ?...or someone else who can live on their own.?Instead of leading the cause for someones life that you know you will never be relied upon to assist in....must be easy

I am sick of seeing this poor women on all the news channels all the time, can't they just let her die in peace? Its bad enough that she's straving to death.

I dont think someone should be kept alive with machines for so long without any signs of recovery, in Shaivo's case all she needs is to be fed. It is rather basic, fill up a big syringe with a cocktail of nutrients and water and inject it into the feeding tube.

I know very little about the case but I feel someone in that condition should have the option of non-FDA approved and possibly revolutionary but experimental treatments after a few years living like that. I am sure some brainy doctor can come up with a drug or even electrical stimulation that helps heal a badly damaged brain. If it were me I would want anything but starving to death and much rather die as a result of experimental drugs killing me because in a state like that there are no other options.
