Emergency authorities are on stand-by in Queensland, amid reports of a chemical leak on board a foreign cargo ship off the central coast. The ship has come from China via Singapore, and is carrying toxic and flammable chemicals for the mining industry. It is believed that two of eight containers on board are leaking, prompting the ship's master to alert Queensland authorities. An action plan is being drawn up. The ship is currently off Gladstone and will be escorted into the Port of Brisbane. It is due to arrive tomorrow afternoon. It will then be assessed by Fire Services and officers from the Hazardous Materials Unit.
