I'm never really sure about petitions and their effectivness, but normally come to the conclusion that if I don't sign, I really can't consider myself as helping the cause.

Detainees in Guantánamo Bay are held in prolonged indefinite detention, which violates a fundamental legal principle: that anyone detained has the right to be promptly brought before an independent judicial officer to challenge the lawfulness of their detention

Its my personal belief that this hypocrisy really has to be addressed, and I know there are a large amount of like minded people here at ATS who feel the same way.

Peace

The supreme court might beat amnesty international out anyway. It seems Bush is being pushed into a corner over it and is recieving alot of pressure to shut it down.

I think that the status od the detainees needs to be quickly determined and settled, after which appropriate action can be taken.
