Open Microsoft notepad. Type the following with no quotes and no carriage return

“bush hid the facts”

save, close and reopen the file.

What does it say?

Bush hid the facts of who really committed 911 is that what you are suggesting Howard??

Sounds correct to me. But being an accessory to a crime is not the same as committing it in my opinion.

It appears the first word, if it's four letters causes that.

Yup...

I typed 'that hid the facts' and got the squares.

That's a fairly big glitch.

I'll have to remember never to start a huge post with a 4 letter word.

Actually, its really if you type any words as follows.

first word=4 letters
second word 3 letters
third word=3 letters
forth word=5 letters

You'll come up with that phenom.

bush hid the
bush hid the facts

and it only went weird on the last attempt

This is kinda weird...

For an experiment I copied and pasted the squares from 'Notepad' into 'WordPad' and got...

畢桳栠摩琠敨映捡獴

Then I pasted that into Yahoo search and got...

We did not find results for "畢桳æ æ‘©ç æ•¨æ˜ æ¡ç´":

Google search

So what does this tell us? I have no idea... Except the obvious, for some reason the font is being changed and Notepad can't display Chinese characters, and Word Pad can...

We need a Chinese interpreter...

China Syndrome

That's what I got, too:

畢桳栠摩琠敨映捡獴

I tried Babelfish for Chinese-simple and got this:

□□□touches □□reflects picks □

Chineses-traditional gives this:

Bi?? touches 琠 敨 reflects □□

If one of our Chinese-literate members can translate, that would rock.

As a guess, I think it might say "bush hid the facts" in Chinese.

Or maybe not.

Me too. I forgot to mention that.

I got the Chinese characters straight out of Notepad, because I have a lot of language sets installed.

Even though I can't read Chinese, I prefer to see the characters instead of a bunch of question marks.

Thanks for the laugh.

For a minute there I thought you were going to accuse Gates of creating another cheap, flexible OS and giving his customers more for their money than any other vendor. Darn

I have another one, but its a MS autospelling feature, not a bug.

three letters, O, N, W. Type them in any order in Microsoft Outlook 2003.

OWN
WON
NOW

Type "When is the NWO" and it changes to:

"NOW"

Regards

Those characters don't mean anything together like that. It's the Chinese version of random code nonsense. Open it again and try changing the encoding to Big5 or GB2312 and it might display the Chinese properly. I don't have Chinese language support on my home computer, but my work computer is a full Chinese OS. I'll try it there in the morning and see what I get.
