Why I'm a Republicrat

Just my personal feelings....

Religion: I believe in the freedom of religion, and do not want it shoved down anyones throat. But I also Believe that the "Ten Commandments", is a harmeless set of rules, and have no problem with them being in a state building. No, I'm not Christian.

Abortion: I believe that abortion is wrong, but would not outlaw it. Counseling before an abortion, especially for teen mothers, could save much psychological problems in the future.

Gun Control: None needed. I have a FOID card, for about 10 years now, and have yet to purchase a gun. I would hate for a criminal to have easier access to firearms( go to any southside Chicago street corner) than me. DO NOT mess with the Constitution.

Capital Punishment: I do not support the death penalty. But, I would leave the fate of the perp up to the victims family.

Welfare: Yes, everyone needs help every once in a while, especially single mothers. Provide free daycare for them, and get them working. Take some of the money from the fraudulent war on drugs to support the program, but also make it a 3 year limit for welfarre for those who fail or are unwilling to work.

Drugs: Legalize them. Works in many other countries. Sell them only in designated areas. Tax Them. Use the tax revenue for rehabilitation programs.

Immigration: No green card= no work or drivers liscense. Do not support those who illegally enter the country. They do the jobs that Americans don't want to do( busboy, fruitpicking)? Take the welfare recipients and offer, no demand them to do these type of jobs, while offering free daycare, and small cash support until they are on their feet.

War on Terror: what war? what terror? I live in the metro Chicago area, and probably have a better chance of being hit by lightning than being a target of terror. Maybe if we didn't meddle in everyone elses affairs, and paid more attention to our own, we wouldn't need a war on terror.

Deficit Problem: Return to the gold standard, tax religion, make drugs and prostitution legal and tax them.

Minimum Wage: We have a minimum wage, how about a maximum wage? Six figures and it's cut off time. Bill Gates can fund the welfare system himself.

Just my thoughts.

Be Well

Charming...but that certainly isn't a "Republican" stance. Maybe a right-of-center- libertarian...maybe...

Be careful with labels, they have a way of labeling you

Voice,
Hence the topic name of Nat's

Mine are:

Religion: I believe in freedom of Religion, go worship that piece of grass, don't expect me to. I do believe though that this country was built on Judeo-Christian values, so if there is mentioning of God in documents or the like (plege of allegiance, coins, etc.) suck it up.

Abortion: I'm a male. I don't think abortion is right in any case because of religious views. There are many other alternatives (give the baby up etc.). I'm not going to change on this so don't bother trying. Like I said I'm a male, I won't have to make the decision. I can only advise.

Gun Control: I believe in fair gun control. No guns for criminals and the like. I believe it is the right of all freedom loving, lawful citizens. I believe in responsible gun ownage. For more info go to: www.nra.org...

Capital Punishment: The Govt has a duty to protect the lawful citizens of this great country. Legitimate public authority has the right and duty to inflict punishment proportionate to the gravity of the offense for the safety and well being of the many.

Welfare: Yes the govt. should help with various society betterment programmes (welfare etc.) but the brunt of it relys on the person and there motivation to find work. The shouldn't expect a free lunch all the time.

Drugs: No legalisation. It would hurt US society in different aspects in my opinion. I think that if the drug dealers are caught and convicted then all their property (and their families property! j/k) is to be liquidised and the revenue of THAT should go to rehab and other projects.

Immigration: I agree with Nat, seems fair, if the welfare people don't want the jobs, then no welfare check....simple.

War on Terror: I'm in the military...no comment.

Deficit: I believe people should be taxed commensurate to their earning, that means rich should pay what they can not what they want to. It should be across the board, not how it is now.

Wages: If you can make it, then you can keep it, no matter how much. Just be prepared to be taxed on it.

Medicare/Prescriptions: I would make a flat cost on all prescribed meds in each kind of category, example: aspirin would cost less to say valium but all aspirin products would be the same price etc. I like the idea of a socialised medicine, everyone would be taxed on what they can afford based on how much they make, yep you guessed it the rich would be paying ALOT more.

Nature: I believe that we are stewards of this Earth and we should be responsible on how we manage the resources of the Earth. I don't like the get rich on the expense of nature though. Be responsible.

Those are my views, where does that put me in the the political picture?

Exellent thinking! I agree with every point you have made here. I also want to add a few of my own:

Diplomacy: We need to bring back the idea of nutrallity, Our government network of "secret allies" has cause us enough trouble to date

Individuallity: I think that everyone should be allowed to control all aspects of their own life that don't interfear with the lives of those around them

Electoral College: Get Rid of It! I don't need any one to speak for me. I can vote on my own

Republicrat, eh?
I agree with some of your ideas. Well, all of them except the legalization of drugs. I believe it is too late for that, and if we were to suddenly legalize them, the first few years might tear our country apart. I'm thinking of all the people under the influence, constant overdoses, and other problems it could cause.

Overall, I'd say I'm 90% behind you.
