I suppose this is an event not insignificant in the whole war in Iraq drama (or call it a tragedy if you will), but does it not appear that it has
been blown out of any imaginable proportion?
His faction is an estimated as 5 to 7% of the insurgents -- and keep in mind that the rest are of widely varying backgrounds, such as Shia Sufi Sunni
and whatever -- and he never was a definitive force in Iraq. He was iconized by the US media as the chief terrorist and his personality is highly
praised because he decided at some point to brand himself Al Qaeda (which he was not). Now the Bush'ers can say -- look! We are really fighting
Al-Qaeda in Iraq!
And, for that reason, the media circus is unbearable. Another murderer is put to death but I don't see it much different from another news piece
about the death row..
