Fight 'the noble fight', huh?
So, fighting tooth & nail against an agressor that's shown no quarter in making 30% of of your people unable to ever see their birthright again is ignoble!?!
More illustration that so many people who've never worn the uniform in service of their country are the ones usually speaking the loudest.
Red Coats marching in formation is what you're hoping for?
A third of your countrymen dead or banished & your fields unworkable to sustain the rest......yeah, form an army, order unforms from Talbot's, have a parade & go at via the Cromwell Conventions! ( that's sarcasm for the Right Wingers on the board!)

Who are you talking to, Zoomie-Boy? I was in a real military - the Army. I did get shot at a few times, but never hit, fortunately. Don't even try and pull any crap toward me. I've already shown to be up for a challenge whenever times call for it.

Lupe, we don't care how you guys do it over there, nancy-boy. If you don't like our way, stay on your side of the pond!

Estragon, I understand and agree. The cowardly act of blowing up kids in a pub or taking hostages in a theater both is disgraceful and dispicable. Even if you are given concessions you have no honor.

TC, I agree whole heartedly, especially with your comment to Loopy. But you are wrong in one respect..

Everyone knows that the "Real Military" is the Air Force! You grunts wouldn't even get to the fight if it weren't for us "Air Dinks" hauling your azzes all over the globe!!!

Air Dink? Never heard that one. Mind if I borrow it?

Oh, yeah. And we should be grateful for the places you guys take us to, huh?

I gotta say one thing about you guys, while the enlisted did the bullet-catching and what-not in the army, your enlisted stays at the bases and lets your officers go to the bullet slinging.
I don't feel so smart of smug anymore. You guys are obviously the superior bunch !

HAAAA!!!! What really sucks about that is I'm enlisted aircrew, so I let those zero's fly my azz into combat on a regular basis. And being on Herks, I get shot at, but don't have anything but a 9mm to shoot back with...can't hit much going 250mph at 250 ft altitude...So I guess I'm not as smart as I could be, eh???

HA HA HA....5 years in the Army. Most of the ATS right-wingers are former soldiers from many different corps. Except you, no ATS left-wingers never weared a soldier uniform. Ask lupe....

Bout Time that's such contrived BULL, you are mistating the facts that Chechnya is no different then south carolina...they want out, they must maintain dignity...and for the most part they have done very little of that.

I think they should all die, if only for killing those 12 russian children, and wounding many more during a parade in rememberance of The Great Patriotic War.

Yes...like I'm going to sympathise with a nation who blows up kids...PURPOSELY.

You just have that common case of sympathising with the losers...mistaking them for the oppressed.

And don't be blabbing about "those who don't wear the uniform speak the loudest" it's not who wears it but who WILL wear it in the time of need. Everyone is equal in that issue, many civilians signed up for WW2, and my "civilian" voice counts more then yours...you are restricted in thought and mind. Maybe you should get out more, this is a a democracy, not Sparta.

And while I feel it would be good for a mandatory 2 years service, the last thing we need is a military government.

Sincerely,

"Lupe, we don't care how you guys do it over there"

we know you don't doodle. thats why your media treated the Sniper you had recently as a national tradgedy, whilst ours treated it as a sutable subject for ridicule on popular satirical comedy shows.

I don't know...you are the one NOT speaking of Russian // Chechnya...so that makes your comment the irrelevant one...mine is relevant to yours....you should all get back on that subject though...that is what this post is about!

No people has the right to by pass armies to instead blow up civilians, that is cowardice, an offense punishable by death in all nations...and in some cultures one that is sever enough to demand suicide.

Is the Russian army justified in torturing and raping civilians just because they are in uniform?

In WW2, are you against what the French resistance did? (Not that I am in any way comparing terrorists to the heroic guerillas of France.)

Should all chechens die or just the terrorists?

You generalise so much that what you say would never work in practice.

I never served in the military!?! Pheonix, besides being an unloaded gun, you're also a sufferer of ADD, no?

Mason, you mean the Yanks pulled civilians apart in the public square after strapping their limbs to two tanks( horses in those days, natch)? Raped their daughters while they made the fathers watch? Poured oil in the ground wells? Committed out and out GENOCIDE?
Honor in that conflict was the first casualty, and the Russian killed it.
If you dips haven't noticed, the US and Europe have turned a blind eye to the whole Chechnya ordeal, giving Putin's Russia carte blanche in doing whatever it wants.
Meanwhile, Saddam gases the Kurds in the 80's, with stuff Reagan's boys provided, is making chem/bio weapons from the starter kit that Rumsfield hand delivered in the 80's, and we have a hard on to take him out now with a $Billion dollar-a-day war.
The use of 'gases his own people' or a 'tyrant to his own people' moral-highground justification is palpable hypocrisy while Europe, Clinton and Bush(s) have let Chechenya fester on.

I'd say calling for a cessation of military action and a move towards addressing the social ramifications of this war on terrorism is pretty positive.....more positive than "kill the rag-heads" which I see here daily.

So if I apply YOUR logic, when Hitler was bombing the shiite out of GB, we should have stood back and tried to TALK him out of it, eh? Think he would have stopped if we said, "Stop this killing of innocent civillians and initiate PEACE!!!"
