Can anyone help me with the correct identity for a Mikoyan project from the late 1950's, all I have is a couple of photo's of a design model for an experimental proposal put forward by Mikoyan when the F-104 became know to them, it basically shows what appearsa to be a Mikoyan Ye-5 (or MiG 21) fuselage with F-104 style wings and tail attached instead of the more usual arrangement, complete with long thin tip tanks, just like on the F-104. I understand it went no further than the model but I wonder if there is a correct designation for it as the photos are just labelled 'Mikoyan design proposal'

edit, here's the photo's

It's always been MiG FIN. That's the correct way to write it down.

Waynos that's an interesting pic, I'll see what I can dig up tonight and if I can find anything on it.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was reported MiG was offically changed to MIG. I like the old way better, though.
And MiG stands for Mi-G,Mikoyan-Gurevich. The 'i' is not by itself. I have never heard of that version before. If it was true, then there would have been a group called LAGiG, or worse, LiAiGiG.
