Seems like some Canadian troops may have been abducted in Afganistan. Now that is all that we need as a country. Hope this proves to be false.

OTTAWA, Ontario (Reuters) -- The international coalition of forces in Afghanistan is investigating a report that some Canadian soldiers have been abducted in the war-torn country, Canada's Defense Department said on Wednesday.

Al-Jazeera television earlier quoted Taliban sources as saying the group had abducted an unspecified number of Canadian soldiers. Canada has 2,300 troops in Afghanistan.

According to this link, seems to be very difficult.

that it is not an easy task because people across the country are working with different organizations.

They've completed the head count. Nobody is missing.

The Prime Minister's Office announced Wednesday that after a head count, all 2,300 Canadian personnel and another 4,200 coalition troops in the war-torn country were safe. The head count was conducted after Al-Jazeera and Reuters reported Taliban claims that it had abducted several Canadian or other coalition soldiers.

Yes, seems like a ploy of some kind, most likely in response to our capturing the terrorists in Toronto.

Glad our people are safe.

All Canadian soldiers stationed in Afghanistan are accounted for despite an Al-Jazeera report that an unknown number of soldiers had been captured by Taliban forces, the Prime Minister's Office said Wednesday.

Probably still trying to frighten us into leaving.

Note for the Taliban: In the future, if you want to scare us, don't make up stuff that is so easily disproven. It's not like we have so many soldiers that we aren't going to notice when they go missing. :shk:

Al-Jazeera?
Why does this story not ring true?

Because it's utter crap. It's been disproven. Head count completed, see above. It may be true that some other troops have gone missing and they were out of uniform and said they were Canadians(Americans maybe?
) and that is how the claim came to be. I don't see why they would do something this idiotically stupid as to lie about something so serious. These aren't the type of people who "bluff."
