Where did the US government learn to be so good at propaganda? What techniques are being used by them on us and others? Have we completely relinquished any responsibility for ourselves? There is no defence for the use of propaganda even if it could be construed as 'helpful'.

Propaganda is not acceptable, it's not something that can be both good and bad like ice cream. It is bad and it's use is evil. In the last century the 'worst' example of propaganda was Nazi Germany. Adolph Hitler with the help of Joseph Goebbles was able to convince people of the Big Lie. One would hope that their example would be anethama to any government today but that is not the case. Our CIA with the tacit approval of our govenment, one would think, actually brought back Nazi's to learn from.

"Just before his death, James Jesus Angleton, the legendary chief of counterintelligence at the Central Intelligence Agency, was a bitter man. He felt betrayed by the people he had worked for all his life. In the end, he had come to realize that they were never really interested in American ideals of "freedom" and "democracy." They really only wanted "absolute power."

Angleton told author Joseph Trento that the reason he had gotten the counterintelligence job in the first place was by agreeing not to submit "sixty of Allen Dulles' closest friends" to a polygraph test concerning their business deals with the Nazis. In his end-of-life despair, Angleton assumed that he would see all his old companions again "in hell."

They were in league with the Nazi's and learned from them.
Our use of torture today would be just one example but propaganda was the jewel in the crown. This was subtle enough to use in quasi-democratic America.

In the 80's the Office of Public Diplomacy "planted stories in the US media supporting the Reagan Administration's Central American Policies." Some of todays Administration , no doubt, cut their teeth on these early PSYOPS. In 2000 officers from the military PSYOPS Group out of Fort Bragg were working at CNN's Atlanta Headquarters as the Kosovo War was winding down. Their mission was most likely to give the War a pro-US spin. One of the basics of a 'good' propaganda campaign is the ubiquitous 'Senior US Official". He is always there to guide us to discern the good from the bad. In 1987 the OPD was shut down. They were found to have " engaged in 'prohibited, covert propaganda activities'" Their words not mine, where is this oversite today? Actually this did not stop the PSYOPS or the story would be over. They just morphed into something more ominous.
Today we are producing news spot and passing them off as real, paying for favorable coverage of government policies, writing pro-US stories in Arabic and giving them to Arab news, if they will take them. Millions of US tax dollars to deceive us and others. Where does all this end? It's
not a pretty picture and like global warming the point of no return is rapidly approaching.
