The World Health Organization released a statement today announcing the possible outbreak of the first ever human to human transmission of the Bird Flu (H5N1). The agency is scheduling a meeting later to discuss this outbreak and to possibly issue a pandemic alert.

This is possibly the second outbreak of H2H Bird Flu. In the article it is mentioned that there was another possible out break of H5N1 in Thailand. I knew of the outbreak in the UK and Iran, I had not heard of an outbreak in Thailand.

While it may not be the dreaded "Super-Flu", it is following the pattern suggested by the WHO and CDC. The May 20 death of General Lee Jong-Wook, head of the WHO, could not have come a worse time.
