Inmates at the Guantanimo Bay facilities attacked guards attempting to prevent another inmates suicide. The inmates used weapons made of fans and light fixtures. The event was quickly subdued by use of minimum force.

Inmates at the US detention centre at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba have clashed with guards as they tried to prevent a fellow detainee from hanging himself.

The detainees struck with weapons crafted from fans and light fixtures, but the disturbance was quelled with minimum force, the US military said.

Earlier three inmates attempted to kill themselves using prescription drugs.

It seems to me that when the prisoners are fighting for the right to die, there is something wrong with the whole situation. There are currently calls from the UN as well as the UK to shut down the prison. With events like this, it seems that may be a good idea. With the evidence of torture, why should this prison be kept going?
