I have no expectations or personal bias regarding that last question.,it just seems to be similar in its doctrinal layout to that of any totalitarian
regime except it is using religion as its pretext.
BTW my interest in Opus Dei predates that of 'The DaVinci Code',which IMO is fiction and its sensationalist best.
I just find religious sects,christian or otherwise,somewhat nefarious,operating within the confines of the main organisation and seemingly to expound
the ideas that are already set out by the mainframe smells of a an alterior motive.
The order of knights he is a member of is called The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, he is not a member of the Knights Templar.
