No offence dude - you haven't exactly provided much info.

It might be you were under a tree on a windy night and the swaying branches obscured your view of the stars????

How does Black triangle come into play?

i was sitting on the lakes edge and there were no trees nearby i looked up and in a large trianglular shape the stars were missing then about 5 seconds later they just popped into my view again and i wasnt saying the triangle itself was black but there were no lights and it appeared black to me

Could it have been a cloud? It's hard to see clouds at night, especially when there is no moon. A rogue cloud would of had the same effect as you are describing.
