Thought ya'll would find this interesting.

Fr. Gabriele speaks a bit about exorcism and the
'personalities' of demons, etc. He's NOT happy with
Romes new guidelines for exorcism. It's highly
watered down. Makes me wonder how many of
the cardinals who wrote the new guidelines were
under evil influence at the time that the wrote the
guidelines. hmmmmm ...

Boston Catholic Journal
Gyles Brandreth of The Sunday Telegraph
October 29, 2000

Devil-hunting is not fashionable in senior church circles. The Catholic
establishment is happier talking about "the spirit of evil" than evil spirits. The
Vatican recently issued a new rite of exorcism which has not met with Father
Amorth's approval. "They say we cannot perform an exorcism unless we know for
certain that the Evil One is present. That is ridiculous. It is only through exorcism
that the demons reveal themselves.

Ok Im confused on some parts. He says "I have performed over 50,000 exorcisms. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes many hours. It is hard work multo duro."

Well lets say he did one exorcism a day every single day. 50000/365=136.99 years to do that. Well hes not that old so well say two a day. Thats still 68.5 years. That seems impossible.

He also states " I have people come to me who are not possessed at all. They are suffering from epilepsy or schizophrenia or other mental problems. Of the thousands of patients I have seen, only a hundred or so have been truly possessed."

I thought you cant do an exorcism unless the patient is actually possessed. Here he states only a hundred or so have been truly possessed. Yet earlier he states hes performed over 50,000. Anyone else confused on this?

KidOK, sometimes all that is necessary, in some cases, is for a priest to "bless" people who are satanic influence -- especially if it's minor demons that are involved. It should also be considered that all of the exorcisms might not have been "one on one" but, instead, it may have been groups of people that were involved.

why would you assume that? Doctors see more than one patient a day.
This fella already said that sometimes it takes a few minutes and sometimes
it takes hours. Just like doctors. Your 'One a day' doesn't seem to fit.

The excorcism ritual can be performed on ANYONE. The person
doesn't have to be possessed. There are also lesser demonic
influences such as obsession and the such. An authentic
exorcism can't hurt anyone and like the priest said ... most
demons won't show until the prayers are said. So, why not say them
if there is any possibility of demonic involvement? The priest was
saying that he had performed the rite a huge number of times, and
that only a few hundred people were actually fully possessed.

Anyone else confused on this?

Not me. I understood exactly what he was saying. But then again
I am Catholic and I actually read what the church puts out and the
Catechism etc. .... so that may be why I understood him.

If you're looking for real casses of demonic possession, I really suggest the book Hostage to the Devil by Fr. Malachi Martin (RIP). It can get very technical and long winded but an awesome read! The pages have started to fall out of my copy!
