I understand that you said it's not a browser problem, but this morning about 7am I logged on with Netscape 7.2 and all seemed normal. Netscape eventually crashed (which is normal). I switched to Firefox and couldn't log in at all.
Don't know if this helps or not, I'm on Firefox now and it all seems nice and fast.

There has been a lot of times I log onto ATS and it's slow or won't load at all, then I clear out my cookies and it works fine until I sign in again. It doesn't happen everyday but it's pretty common and has something to do with cookies or caches.

Okay, I hope I did this right, but I used NetSnoop and everything came back really fast. BUT, when I try to load ATS it takes forever.

[edit on 5/16/2006 by Landis]

So, naturally, right after I take the frickin' time to help, the damn thing loads like lightning.

[edit on 5/16/2006 by Landis]

Fast, SLOW, fast, SLOW. WTF is going on?

I just noticed that sometimes I'm unable to access ATS or the related pages from my laptop... It just started happening tonight. That being said, what I find especially odd about that is that I'm still able to access the sites from my desktop computer.

As I typed this post, I was unable (and still am after multiple refreshes) to access ATS on the laptop, while on my desktop it works no problem.

I doubt it'll help, but both are running Firefox 1.5.03 and wirelessly connected to my network. Even more strange is that the desktop has the worse of the two connections.

Next time this happens I'll run the trace on both to see if the results vary.

Hi,
ATS was unable to be loaded from 3:00pm to 3:25pm Wednesday 17/05/06 Sydney Australia time - error code "Time Out for connection"
The same thing happened yesterday at around the same time.
I am using Firefox as a browser and am online (at work oooops
) most of the day.
Hope this helps

For me the occasional slowness or page cannot be displayed errors seem to be caused by things outside ATS power, as you can see from this picture. That particular machine is constantly having some packet loss, and from time to time you can see the graph jump and packet loss grow.
When all is well RTT is around 160-170ms and everything works as it should.

Initial loading of the site is quick. However, pages load with errors, pages don't load at all, and pages partially load. Buttons are missing, avatars are missing, etc. Refresh rate is almost two minutes. I think this is related to the new servers. I did not have this problem before.

Because of this problem, we've subscribed to a site monitoring service that checks ATS every 30 minutes from 12 locations around the world. At the time you indicate, we did indeed have some network issues... here's the fault our service picked up...

I have been having this problem intermittently over the past several days (at least three to four days).

The frustrating thing is that our provider (The Planet) is ignoring the seemingly obvious network problems, and trying to focus on the configuration of our server.

The machine is essentially idling along at about 40% capacity even during peak traffic periods of late afternoon US eastern time. And we simply didn't have these problems before we moved to the new servers in their new data center.

Keep the information coming... it's helpful.

Would you like or need second reports?

I wonder why the planet it ignoring the facts, did you find out why the severs where cut off last week?

Only if and when you encounter problems.

did you find out why the severs where cut off last week?

They claimed the servers reached critical temp when an air conditioning unit failed. However, there were no indications of a high CPU temp in the server log files.

All this At&t stuff may have me jaded, but do you think server companies would sell info?

hey why do you get rid of some of those banner flash ads on the page. I have cable whis is about Equal to a T1 connection in speeds, yet it takes me about 20 seconds to download the pages

Might speed things up

In fact on my older computer with Win 98 and Opera I have stopped visiting ATS becasue of having to DL all the useless ads

Not so useless... they keep us alive.

We're still having network routing issues... but sometimes routing issues can be improved by tweaking server performance (less wait time). I added a PHP Accelerator to our server mix. Let me know if you notice a performance increase.
