IQALUIT, Nunavut - Northern hunters, scientists and people with vivid imaginations have discussed the possibility for years. But Roger Kuptana, an Inuvialuit guide from Sachs Harbour, North West Territories, was the first to suspect it had actually happened when he proposed that a strange-looking bear shot last month by an American sports hunter might be half polar bear, half grizzly.

We have all heard how the Polar bears are starting to dissapear. Well, it looks like life found a way. They are now breeding with the grizzlys. DNA tests proved that the bear they found in the wild, was indeed half polar bear and half grizzly. They have been able to pair the two in the zoos, but did not think it would happen in the wild. When paired in the zoo, they produce fertil offspring.

While it is sad to think of the polar bears loosing their homes and lives due to global warming and pollution, it is heart warming to know that they are finding a way to evolve, and survive in this world.
