A really long a and all explaining response. Maybe you should watch it too, though, at least you'll know that also Chinese waged wars after WWII

BTW what are you trying to dispute? That Cuba is not dictatorship? That there was no invasion of Tibet etc.? That Venezuelan economy(except oil sector) is OK?

This for one. This is the biggest falacy I have heard in a long time. I am from Venezuela. I know what is going on in my country. Unemployment has gone down at least 6 points in the last year. Yes, our main export is Oil but that is not all we live on.

The second thing I dispute is you saying Chavez is the reason the Oil price is so high when it is obviously Bush is more guilty about that than Chavez. When Bush got into power the Oil price was well between the bands Chavez proposed (yes it was Chavez who introduced the bands to the OPEC). The rest is ongoing history with all the invasions based on lies created by the Bush administration.

I was referring to Chavez helping the poor citizens of his own nation, rather than putting the wealthy citizens of foreign nations first. If the wealthy natiosn thirst for oil, than they must pay the price that is asked of it, or simply find alternatives (which I would much rather prefer)

Your a fool if you think Socialism and Communism are the same thing. Think dummy- Orwell was a socialist, is he a pinko as well?
Hello...Communism is Socialism's ugly step sister.... Now, a little socialism sprinkled here and there is good. Its when you cross that line, and that step sister moves in that you have mucho problemas.

Actually, true socialism is but one step before Communism. The goal of True Socialism is Communism as Carl Marx stated long ago.

Karl Marx was born on May 5, 1818 in the city of Trier, Germany. Marx was a revolutionary who advocated 'merciless criticism of everything existing'. In 1843, Marx went to Paris in order to publish a journal of his radical ideas. He was a critic of capitalism, and an advocate of socialism. The following year he met Frederick Engels, who was to become a friend and collaborator. Marx and Engels were both active in various revolutionary groups, and together worked out the theory and tactics of 'Revolutionary Proletarian Socialism', which they called 'Communism'.
..................
According to Marxist theory, it is the final condition of a country when goods produced by the workers are distributed equally to all, and where 'the state' no longer exists. After socialism was adopted as official doctrine by various countries, noteably the former Soviet Union, communism came to mean the political system of a country where a single authoritarian party controls all state-owned production.

Which is exactly what castro did at first and then unmasked himself from a "Socialist" to a Communist"... castro also promised the best things for the working class, and there were some changes that did some of the things he promised, then he moved in to make certain he would stay in power as long as he lives, and one of the worse dictatorships was implemented, by promising the "working class" that they will all be equal, and they all will get the same rights and have as much money as most other Cubans. It is the same tactics which has been used by many other Communist nations for many of their people to accept such dictatorships.

This is another step which Chavez has learnt from castro. castro did the same thing in Cuba, and now the "rigged elections" in CUba always guarantee his presidency, which is exactly what Chavez is doing with this announcement. He is just making the world believe that he is "asking the people of Venezuela", when in fact he is making certain he stays president in Venezuela for as long as he lives.

Maudibb, can I ask you what would be the problem with lifting all sanctions on Cuba, and at least giving them a chance to try and prove the system could work if they were actually allowed to participate in the world economy?

I do not believe it would negative at all. We already legitamize an opressive regime in China, and a pretty horrible dictatorship in Saudi Arabai. Why not should we give Cuba a chance at least?

Personally I think China is controlled by the US anyways, and everything in the news is just to throw the public world off the scent.

I think we should lift sanctions and see what happens.
