We're now entering our 5th technology upgrade in three years.

Over the next few days, there will be several changes on our way to the following final hardware configuration:

Server One --> Two Dual-Core Opteron 265's + 8 GB RAM + SATA drives
-- 100% dedicated to the board database

Server Two --> Two Dual-Core Opteron 265's + 8 GB RAM + SATA drives
-- Serving: www.abovetopsecret.com

Server Three --> Two Dual-Core Opteron 265's + 2 GB RAM + SATA drives
-- Serving: www.belowtopsecret.com
-- Serving: politics.abovetopsecret.com
-- Serving: atsnn.com
-- Serving: tinwiki.com
-- Serving: conspiracymasters.com
-- Serving: images.abovetopsecret.com
-- Serving: ads.abovetopsecret.com
-- Serving: podcasts.abovetopsecret.com
-- Serving: uploads.abovetopsecret.com
-- Serving: www.ignorancedenied.com

The first step will be the transition of the core discussion board sites. Then the other domains/sites will follow.

This new core structure will offer a significant performance boost (obviously) and more important, a better path to load-balanced multi-server hosting clusters should the need arise.

Stay tuned.

What a job and how cool this will be!

I'll just say it all here: Congratulations, Thank You and Well-Done!

When this is all transferred, I'll be expecting a Skeptic Overview with all the details. Or whatever you want to talk about, really, but I'm telling you... I need me some Skeptic Overview!
And this seems like as good an excuse as any!

Much appreciated...

Sounds so Whizzy!

wow

You guys are Grreat!

I don't have any idea what Dual-Core Opterons or SATA drives are, but they sound very expensive.

You go, SO!

And thanks for all your hard work.

Sweet setup. I wish I had them. Out of curiosity, how large are the SATAs?, How many? RAID configuration?

I'm sorry, but this is like a dirty mag for me.

Ulterior Motives

What didn't get mentioned is the fourth ATS server, outfitted as above, but with the addition of four Nvidia GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics cards in a quad SLI configuration.

The purpose? To allow -- in conjunction with the killer multiple OC3 trunks and gigabit Ethernet connections, and a proprietary direct neural interface (DNI) -- the Overlord to PWN the Counterstrike universe.

Negative ping times, baby.

SO 4 teh w1n!

2z160 gig RAID, 12,000 RPM (though I suspect they're actually 10,000 as the 12,000 rpm SATA drives are not yet in broad distribution)

First step is in-progress, the images server is now on the new configuration.

As soon as the database server receives its full compliment of ram, we'll shut down the existing board to a read-only state, and transfer the data to the new server... test it out, and begin the cut-over.

You kinda lost me after this part..........

Why do I bother.....If I see SO and computers in the title......I know I wont understand 1/10 of what he is saying

Gotta give credit to the people behind the scenes that make this place tick.
